Michael Bennett Will Start At Defensive End

August 27th, 2011

Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik has spent heavily with Team Glazer’s coin on beefing up the defensive line.

But it may be yet another dumpster diving find by Dominik who could have the biggest impact in the early season.

Michael Bennett, signed off waivers in October 2009 who was a complete beast Saturday night. Though he left the game with an undetermined injury, there is no question who the starting left defensive end should be.

Da’Quan Bowers actually showed up Saturday with a sack and some good tackles but for now, unless he is too injured, it should be Bennett who starts and maybe work in Bowers and perhaps Kyle Moore as well.

Kyle Moore didn’t do much other than against an overmatched, underprepared, and dreadful KC team. George Johnson showed more against the Pats and Dolphins and if he can play LDE, he should get Moore’s spot. He got another sack tonight and got his hand on the QB a few more times. He played a little DT last week against NE so him playing LDE shouldn’t be out of the question.

Agree with Johnson over Moore. Johnson has looked very good in all three preseason games. He belongs on this roster.

Really impressed with how Bennett has played in the preseason, a 3 way rotation of Clayborn/Bowers/Bennett sounds great to me sprinkle some Crowder in there.

Loving me some Bennett. Actually, lots of great potential on the d line.

Bennett earned a starting spot with his play in the first quarter last night!

Boy was I wrong, he showed off his arse this game and he rightfully so deserves to start as well as Okam. Miller and Price should be coming in passing downs or as backups only
