Megatron Preview?

August 27th, 2011

Brandon Marshall beat E.J. Biggers, deked Cody Grimm and stiff-armed Quincy Black en route to the Dolphins' first-half touchdown tonight.

Joe’s heard countless aching from fans worried about what Detroit’s Calvin Johnson might do — again — to the Bucs when the Lions come to town on opening day.

These fans have cried about how the Bucs needed Aqib Talib (or Nnamdi Asomugha) in the lineup to win that game against the man they call Megatron. They scoffed at the thought that E.J. Biggers or Myron Lewis could be up for the task.

The bad news is the Biggers and the Bucs struggled tonight against a very Megatron-like receiver in Brandon Marshall. The good news is Talib won’t be suspended and likely will be 100 percent healthy for opening day.

It was kind of a freak play. Biggers had tight coverage, didn’t make a good play on the ball, then Marshall suck into the endzone. I’m confident that that type of play will be the exception this season. Our run defense is VERY stout, our pass rush, especially with Dakoda Watson in there is extremely scary. I really like this team.

I’d still like to see Asante take over Jones at SS, Carter or Zuttah take over for Larsen at LG, and possibly Zuttah to take over for Faine at OC.

Woa when did our run defense become stout? The dolphins o line is garbage outside of Jake long. And the pats/chiefs showed we still had big holes in the run game so idk where you got VERY stout 0.o

There’s a different excuse after EVERY game, get over yourself and take games for what they are. The line played well, quit making excuses you clown.

Jake Long didn’t even play. We’ll see how “stout” our defense is in week 2 against All Day…

And Joe, you’re the only person who hasn’t heard of “Megatron” and “Do the RIght Thing”

Talib better harass him. Jam him. (Pistol whip him?? Jk) Abuse him. Slap him. Offend him. Earn a few flags that’s alright. Make him a non factor.

Biggers and Lewis looked terrible in pass coverage last night. TERRIBLE. Biggers did redeem himself with the forced fumble but come on man! No need to run the ball if you can pass, pass pass your way into the endzone like the Fins did.

The good thing about the third preseason game is that there is only one left!

The fourth one is always the bigest joke.

Get through with no injuries and all systems go against Detroit. I guess Bellichick didnt game plan heavily against them last night, since the Lions beat em pretty good.

    Not that it means squat.

Many teams struggle against Brandon Marshall, not just Tampa. That’s why he is Brandon Marshall. I do think they were targeting our rookie Foster last night.

  9. McBuc Says:

Hey Lucky, just how many TDs did they “pass, pass, pass, their way into the endzone”?

  10. Dave Says:

On the TD pass Biggers had excellent coverage just did two things wrong:
    1. Didn’t get around quick enough to get up and knock the ball.
——-BUT, he made up for it by getting his arm in there and ripping one of Marshall’s arms away. The problem was Marshall is a helluva WR and made the catch anyway.

    2. He didn’t make the tackle.

More of an issue for me was the way Marshall stiff armed Quincy Black to the ground at about the 10-15 yard line.
