Joe Talks Talib

June 24th, 2011

The lovely and talented Sarah Tyson peppers Joe with questions about Aqib Talib’s future.

Yes, it’s another edition of the sometimes award-winning, rarely predictable JoeBucsFan TV.

    1. Capt.Tim Says:

Uh oh! Joe implied Aqib isn’t “elite”. The apologist will be crying foul over that one! Some of the thugs fans think he, not Nnamdi, us the best corner in the league. That opinion isn’t based on reality or production, or stats, or the truth. But it is what they believe. Ronde said he is the best corner he’s played with- so that means he’s better than the below average Brian Kelly and Philip Buchanon- well whoop- de-Doo! So are about 90% of the CBs in the league right now!

    2. Bucnjim Says:

      Captain,

Donnie Abraham was a great corner, but I wish he would have finished his career here in Tampa. I’ll bet he wishes he stayed here as well! I’m not sure if he ever had the same success in NY that he had here. I’m on the fence about Talib. Watching highlight films; he makes a ton of splash plays that change the course of games. On the other hand; he takes too many chances and gets burned trying to make game changing plays.

    3. Dave Says:

Everybody knows Talib’s a great player, but he misses games, is coming off a major injury, and he’s not elite. Yeah, I said it, too. LOL.

Maybe he will be now after three years and hopefully some maturity. Joe’s just calling it straight.

    4. BillyJoeSyph Says:

I hear there is a guy named Myron Lewis just waiting for prime time, if he has put in the work it looks like in the off season I think he will be able to pick up the slack ++

    5. Irwin Scheister Says:

Myron Lewis isn’t nearly as skilled as Talib is.

    6. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

Talib is a game changing Corner, l hope Tampa keeps him.
I like the TV interview format Joe! You come across on TV like the nice guy you are in person!

    7. BigMacAttack Says:

Talib has changed several games…. by letting receivers get deep beyond him to catch TD passes. I still hope they keep him and sign Nnamdi too.

    8. Capt.Tim Says:

BigMacAttack- yup, he sure changed the Pittsburg game. He knocked to passes INTO the receivers hands, both ran off for TDs, leaving Aqib sucking dust.
BillyJoe- I think so , Too. I think Lewis is Faster. And Much Smarter!
Apple and Dave- no, only you guys know that. No votes to the ProBowl, no votes for top 100- not one. You guys are fooling yourselfs into believing we are in danger of losing a great talent. We aren’t . We are just in danger of losing another wasted Draft pick by the Gruden Regime- no news there! If you are going to walk around crying how great this guy is, you should at least have something to back it up. Ya got nuthin! No proBowls, no allProS , no top 100. Nuthin. He isn’t a great cornerBack. The only thing great is the great big list of incidents he’s had since signing his first contract. That’s it. He couldn’t carry Nnamdi’s jock. And Nnamdi has the proBowl/AllPros votes to prove. Get over the delusion.
