Raheem Enjoying “Half” Days

May 24th, 2011

So what’s Raheem Morris’ day like during a lockout with no players around to inspire?

His day is about half has busy as it would usually be, so Raheem told the WQYK-AM 1010 morning crew last week. Raheem says the lockout makes him worried about players improving without coaches around — missing out on what he calls “the stuff that makes you great.”

“Those guys that you don’t know at the beginning of the season, … they’re missing the opportunity to come into the facility right now and get better. That’s what you worry about. You know, usually we’re in the office a lot earlier. We’re in the office at 4 a.m. because we’re getting ready for our guys to come in, you know, for that hour that we get them as a coaching staff other than what they do as far as training. And we’re preparing for that and then in the afternoons we’re able to look at some of our cutups. Right now we kind of cut that day in half a little bit, so we’re just looking at our stuff and getting ready to look at [film of] free agents in the afternoon. So that’s the stuff that we’re missing, the stuff that makes you great,” Raheem said. “So it gives me a little more time to come up and talk to [media]. It also gives me a little more time to really enjoy what Coach [Joe] Maddon is doing. It gives me a little more time to really enjoy what’s going on with Coach [Guy Boucher].  … I’m really enjoying what’s happening in our city and our town.”

With the extra time on their hands, Joe wonders how tempting it might be for Raheem and other coaches to find their way over to Josh Freeman’s top secret workouts.

Actually, Freeman’s workouts aren’t so top secret after all. He invited Pat Yasinskas from ESPN to a recent workout on the condition that he didn’t reveal the location to anyone. Looks to me like he doesn’t mind some coverage but is being selective in who he allows to come into the circle of trust. I’m sure a (FLBoyinDallas: “The Big Dog” is a proud partner of JoeBucsFan and is also a friend of Joe’s. As such, with any business partner in any business, can’t go off like that. — Joe) is out of the question.

Its weird that Coach watches film of FAs, EVERYDAY, when they aren’t planning to sign any. Lol.

As I said before, the Bucs will make some major moves in FA. I expect a Top CB, a couple OLBs, a safety, and a DE. I think LG is still a possibility, along with right tackle, but the Bucs are really happy with some of the young O- line from last year.

We are ready to start the SuperBowl run!

  3. OAR Says:

    Capt
“We are ready to start the SuperBowl run!”
Don’t you mean a beer run?
Don’t get me wrong, it would be nice! But, come on, this team is still way too young!

  4. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    Capt. Tim,

I wouldn’t mind if you are right, but technically anyone they didn’t draft is a free agent. That could be rookies (very likely) or lower tier free agents (still pretty likely). I doubt he really needs to watch much film on Nnamdi, pretty sure he knows how great he is. Not trying to burst your bubble, but you are setting yourself up for disappointment if we don’t get any big time free agents.

  5. Macabee Says:

Capt, If past is prologue, you’ve got two chances to get the Glazers to open the vault for 6 FAs – slim and none and slim done left town. To get that much cheese from the Glazers’ coffers would be like pulling the Titanic across the Sahara with a rope tied to your scrotum – like giving birth to a flaming porcupine while lying on your back in a frozen igloo. You feeling me?

  6. Capt.Tim Says:

And once again, the zombies post. Don’t any of you have the memory of Jellyfish?
Don’t any of you remember Ken Dilger? Michael Pittman? Keenan MaCardell? Roman Oben, Cato June, Phillip Buchnon, Or Brad Johnson? Simeon Rice?

All FAs – signed by the Glazers, during our SuperBowl run. And that wasn’t all Jurivious? Several Guards? Luke Petigout?

Some of you believe the stupid crap you read in the media, and forget the truth? Don’t you ever form opinions or memories of your own? Or is your brain just one big coal bin, fulla whatever some idiot shovels in there?

The Management team will use FA to fill in any missing pieces, JUST EXACTLY LIKE THEY DID LAST TIME. History will repeat itself, because successful men follow sucessfull plans . Don’t believe the idiotic stuff you read in the media

  7. Macabee Says:

OK, Capt, you are absolutely correct about the glory years, but that was when the old man was in charge – now the kids are in charge. I hope you are right. So, for the moment I will concede and resume my place among the living dead!

  8. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Wow Captain, why do I have to be a zombie? Just because I disagree? I know you are always right (you’ve said so on several occasions), but damn dude! I’m a fan too, and I spend entirely too much time researching any and everything Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I have a right to express my opinion, whether I am right or wrong. I really don’t appreciate that….ok, I’m over it.

Another big difference Captain is that even in our glory years, i don’t think we pulled off 3 consecutive great drafts (top to bottom) like we have the last 3 years (obviously that is making a big assumption that this year’s draft will be as good as the previous 2). I don’t think we need that many free agents as we did back then. We have a great QB, WR, RB, and hopefully a great DL and secondary. All they really need is experience. I just haven’t read anything from Dominik or Raheem (or anyone else for that matter) that leads me to believe we are going to be big players in free agency, but I really don’t think we need to be. I disagree with you that successful men follow the same successful plans. Successful men adapt to the situation and times, and find different ways to achieve success. I think we are both on the same page that we are going to be a perennial Super Bowl contending team (hopefully this year, but at least by the year after), I think we just disagree how we are going to get there. And for the record, if we do sign Nnamdi or any other big time free agent, I will gladly eat crow and enjoy every single bite. I promise to come back on this site and admit that I am a moron, a zombie, a jellyfish, or anything else you want me to be.

  9. Capt.Tim Says:

Hawaiian and all- sorry about that previous post . Came across Much harsher than intended! Sorry.

Bad night for me. In Norfolk, Va. Still. Storm knocked out Power all night( still out). Stuck in Hotel with no air, no lights- hot and Dark- only large Flashlight and Iphone. Had arranged to move to another facility, but elect co. Called and assured power on by 10:00 pm

4:30- still no power , no Ac . I sleep with an oxygen machine due to Medical condition- no oxygen machine.

I wrote that post under those conditions. – bad excuse, but falling in and outta sleep as wrote. My irritation was at media, that keeps writing that the team won’t sign FA, even though we have a
    Long history of doing so,

Build thru draft, but use all resources possible. Like intelligent people would.

Asa post or to implied I was an idiot for even considering the possibility. In a frustrating evening- where I was already Delong stupid

Asa post or to implied I was an idiot for even considering the possibility. In a frustrating evening- where I was already feeling stupid for remaining here in the hot dark, when I had options!!- I sorta blasted an unguided middle of a post

That’s no excuse. Just an explanation.

So sorry all. Next time of irritation, I’ll find something else to do besides post rudely on JoeBuc, insulting people I greatly respect, due to my own bad manners

  11. Capt.Tim Says:

Really sorry guys. That last post was bad manners , and should have been better directed. It was not meant to be blindly fired at my fellow posters, whom I respect.

  12. Capt.Tim Says:

Bad night for me. Still in Norfolk,Va.
Around 5:30, bad storm blew out all power.
In a hotel. No air. No air circulation. Windows don’t open. No lights.
I made arrangements to move to base. But hotel said Power company assuredlights back on by 10:00 at latest.

4:45- still no lights. No air
Due to injuries, I sleep with an electric oxygen generator.
    No oxygen generator

None offense excuses my bad manners. A couple post made it seem I was an idiot for even suggesting signing a free agent. I got unnessisarily Orestes, and blasted out an unguided missile of a post, that should have expressed what i was angry about. Which is lOcal media proclaiming Bucs won’t sign Free agency, which they have done in abundance in the past. When the time is right. Since I was already feeling stupid for staying here( when I had options!!!), I irritably just blasted away.

That’s an explanation. Not an excuse. Next time I’m irritable , I’ll find some else to do, other than insult people I greatly respect on Joe Buc

I’m sorry to any I offend( especially you, hawaiianBuc), and hope my apology is accepted. And my stupidity given an exception.

    That’s an e

  13. Capt.Tim Says:

An Explanation. Not making excuse for my bad behavior( 4th time writing this, won’t post for some reason)

Bad night for me. Still in Norfolk,Va
Storm@ 5:30 knocked out all power in this area. I’m in a hotel. No Ac, no air circulation. Windows don’t open. No lights. Due to injuries. I sleep with an electric oxygen generator- no oxygen.

Made arrange Lents to move to base, but Hotel says Power co, called. Said lights in by 10:00 at latest

    5:00 am -still no power

  14. Capt.Tim Says:

My post aren’t posting. I’ll elaborate on my apology as soon as post start posting again

  15. Capt.Tim Says:

Explanation- not excuse. Still in Norfolk, Va. Storm knocked put power. I’m in hotel. No AC or air circulation, windowscdont open. No lights. I made arrangements to ge to Base, but hotel assured by power company that lights on by 10:00pm. 5:00am- no power.

Due to injuries- I sleep with electric oxygen generator. – no oxygen. Must be 95* in here.

So, being irritable already, a couple post seemed to think I was an Idiot for even suggesting FA. I wrote an unguided missile of a post, that should have been more directed at media- who repeatedly claims that we won’t sign FA, even though history proves that is exactly what we’ll do

So sorry guys, next time I’m irritated, I’ll do something besides post on JoeBuc, and be rude to people I greatly respect. Hope my apology is accepted. It was bad manners, and won’t happen again.

  16. Capt.Tim Says:

Wow! Now they all post( help Joe!)
It’s okay. I feel that bad about being an irritable Dick:(

  17. Joe Says:

    Capt.Tim:

Guessing since you are on the road using a new IP address your posts went to spam.

  18. Capt.Tim Says:

Probably, sorry to load the board, but I needed to be repentant.

  19. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    Capt. Tim,

It’s all good man, apology accepted. If I had no power, I’d be grouchy too, lol. We lost power for a day a few months ago, and I was going out of my mind! I look forward to discussing Ruud and Talib with you again in the near future, lol,

  20. OAR Says:

    Capt
It is all good, but go say five hail mary’s, just to be safe! lol

  21. Capt.Tim Says:

Lol- thanks! You guys are the best. I feel better now. There may be worse things than being oxygen hungry, but can’t be many.

Five hail Marys- in the book 🙂

  22. OAR Says:

    Capt
Seriously, glad to hear you’re feeling better!

  23. Capt.Tim, the Humbled Says:

Thanks. Owe thanks to god and a great Doctor. I’m not who I was, but much better than I thought I could be. Can still travel and now I am sorta of a consultant. Still get a a few thrills in my life.

Thank you Oar! You don’t know how much that meant to me. God Bless ya, and thanks!
