Adrian Clayborn Continues To Impress

May 19th, 2011

So far nothing Adrian Clayborn has said or done that would not make Joe not want to buy his jersey. The guy is learning how to be a stud NFL player at the feet of James Harrison and some Packers vets.

Now comes how locked in Clayborn gets when it comes to football. On Twitter last night — Joe’s going to guess it was a non-basketball association game of some sort — Clayborn was appalled that a player would be subject to a vapid sideline reporter.

interviewing players before the game?? TV is crazy. let that man focus

This really gets Joe pumped up. This tells Joe that whenever Clayborn steps between the white lines, he shuts the world off and is locked in on the task at hand: burying quarterbacks.

Call Clayborn a throwback. Joe can remember working in Chicago 20 years ago and hearing former Bears defensive lineman Ed O’Bradovich go crazy when he used to see defenders celebrate after a two-yard gain by an offense.

“Where’s your mind at?” O’Bradovich used to scream. “Get your head in the game!”

Seems as though Clayborn always has his mind in the game. His football field is his office and its best not to disturb him unless you are wearing a Bucs uniform as well.

Joe just loves that Clayborn loathes the empty Michele Tafoya who is Exhibit-A of the type of sideline reporters who annoy both players and viewers asking about grandma’s kidney stones or what vegetables a player grew in the family’s summer backyard garden.

Stick to the damned game!

Clayborn also later last night mocked basketball players who were moved to wear toothprotectors.

why r all these basketball players wearing mouth guards lol. its basketball. i havent wore one since freshman year in college. ive gone headed to head on the goaline with shonn greene with no mouth piece….rest my case.

Dude’s not just focused, not just learning the NFL ways through this asinine lockout fronted by NFL hatchetman Roger Goodell with Super Bowl-winning vets, but Clayborn comes across as a dude who is tough as nails as well.

Joe’s starting to get a hunch that Clayborn’s going to quickly become a fan favorite. He’s already a favorite of Joe’s.

I love it! Well the part about the mouthpiece is sort of dumb he should know that you could be the best player in the world talent wise, but if you’re not playing (someone knocked your teeth out) it will not mean anything to the team or the fans. Then again, that’s what’s to expect from real men at that age.

Wait til we see him healthy, ripping around LTs and smashing QB’s! This guy has what it takes to be really special! And he is a fun guy to listen to, also! A real people person. Fans are gonna love this young man!

  3. Jodikool716 Says:

Capt. T, What do you mean when he is healthy? I don’ t think he is injured. Oh yeah! that erb’s palsy thing, i almost forgot. Give it a rest, he is what we need on the D- line, i like McCoy, but he doesn’t have mean streak. Teams need to fear us when they walk into RJS. Lets get it!

I really like this guys hard nosed attitude. It reminds me of John Lynch! When Gruden asked Lynch what he was going to do when he buzzed that crossing pattern right in front of his face; Lynch responded: “bring it on sucker”. I think it’s pretty safe to say that Lynch, Brooks & Sapp won more battles on the practice field than Gruden’s best Offense.

  5. Capt.Tim Says:

Jodikool ??!?- no, not the Palsy thing! That isn’t an issue for me. Last year he had a bad leg most of season- knee and ankle. You didn’t hear about it, cause the guy isn’t a whiner. He will be at full speed this year, if those imbeciles ever resolve their damn contract issues!!!

I think Adrian Clayborn needs a reality check. As a former martial arts fighter, I would explain that the “tooth protectors” are not exclusively for protecting his chiklets, but the main reason they are worn is to prevent concussion. An upper cut under the face guard to the chin sends a shock wave upwards towards the brain stem which creates concussion and possibly unconsciousness. Maybe, Adrian would consider playing without a facemask to display his manliness. Facemasks are for protecting teeth, “tooth protectors” are shock absorbers for the brain.

We are learning more and more about concussion every day. Lou Gehrig was at first thought to be a random victim of a rare neurological disease. Upon closer inspection, he was involved in numerous collisions and suffered many concussions. Gehrig never took a single day off, which compounded the effects of these concussions. He eventually paid for his heroics with his life. We are seeing dementia and many early demises in many of our pro football players not to mention boxers and others.

Oh my bad capt tim, ur right i never heard about that but if he is OK he is going to be dominant. On another note our hometown man Mike Williams is coming home to Buffalo, Ny to have a big birthday bash this weekend and i hear several Bucs are coming also. My concern is that this night club is known to be a trouble spot, we sure dont need any more bucs in any kind of trouble. I will keep everyone informed as to how it goes down.

    Joe: what a stretch!

I know that there is a lockout but to suggest that this tweet is evidence of anything is absurd. Come on joe, you are better than this nonsense.

  9. Thomas 2.2 Says:

Why dont you do some investigative reporting for JBF? Pro bono of course.

  10. jvato24 Says:

Speaking of Shonn Green … Our 6th Rd pick Allen Bradford really reminds me of him.

  11. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

I think Bradford may be the steal of the draft maybe ? Tampa needs a bruising, short yardage back. I hope he blocks good, and can pick up the blitz.

  12. jvato24 Says:

After watching Bradfords game film … He gets downHill and does it quickly .. He’s pretty Fast for 240 +LB man .. I think he could surprise at some point this season .. If there is one

  13. Chris FWC :) Says:

    @ Miguel, nice post.
@ Jodikool, go to the club and keep them in line. Bring a taser Hayes.

  14. Espo Says:

Have you ever seen a basketball game? They throw dem bows! You gotta protect the shiny whites.

  15. Joke Says:

Agree with Miguel. Coaches shouldn’t allow Clayborn on the field without a mouth guard.

  16. Capt.Tim Says:

Miguel- great and informative post. Thanks!
JodiKool- might wanna take some firepower with ya, just in case Talib shows up packing
Thomas 2.2- “Pro Bono, of Course”, lmao. It almost sounds like you’re trying to imply somebody is cheap, if I didn’t know better!
