Pat Kirwan Discusses Bucs Draft

April 1st, 2011

Given the bombshell news that Bucs cornerback Aqib Talib went all Sonny Corleone (what, Luca Brasi was tied up?) in recent days, (allegedly) pistol whipping and shooting at a fleeing subject and being slapped with a felony charge, this may have changed how the Bucs tackle the upcoming draft. Pat Kirwan of CBSSports discusses how the latest chapter in the Talib book of distractions will effect the Bucs draft.

What a great shot of Freeman. He is a total Beast!!!
He is the most physical QB in the league, by far.
Mike Vick is a pipsqueak next to Josh.
    & Go Bucs!!!

Unfortunately Brandon Harris will be long gone when the Bucs pick in Rd.2 and he would be a bit of a reach at #20 if a Ryan Kerrigan, Aldon Smith, Cameron Jordan etc. is still on the board. The Bucs are more realistically looking at guy like corners Aaron Williams and Curtis Brown out of Texas or maybe Ras-I-Dowling. Dowling is the guy who would have true pro-bowl potential(assuming he doesn’t spend his whole career on IR) and could possibly even slide to where the Bucs pick in the third because of those injury concerns.

If they draft Jimmy Smith, with his character concerns, at #20, I will sh*t my pants.

Trading up for Amukamara, if he somehow slides to the mid teens, would be the most appealing prospect of all to me.
