After watching the video I can see why. Sounded like a street thug at the beginning but got my respect after seeing his football savvy.

He apparently stiffed Carolina for a meeting. Called in ‘sick’ after being reported out partying the night before. Way to squash those character concerns, Ryan.

Gruden brings Manning and Brady as examples of slower footed QB’s who are successful. Unfortunately for Mallett he isn’t just slow footed. He’s also got that tall, gangly, awkward build of guys like Drew Bledsoe and Vinny Testaverde. Those are the guys I see when I look at Mallet. I imagine, just like those guys, Mallet will always struggle mightily with the NFL pass rush. He might have a few seasons, like Drew and Vinny, where his o-line will be good enough to let him heave it all over the place downfield but ultimately I don’t see how he will be a consistently succesful QB in todays NFL.
