Love Aldon Smith but scared he will blow up at the combine right alongside Robert Quinn and teams ahead of us will fall in love with him. Hopefully that leaves Justin Houston as a nice consolation prize though.

    Don’t forget the importance of a …
    another STUD RB
since we dumbluck found one last year…
I’d do a Horace Copeland back flip if the Bucs drafted one with the 20 pick…

  3. BuccoBill Says:

@ gitarlvr- I love the Idea of getting Justin Houston at #20. I don’t think that would be a consolation prize at all. For his size he is a beast and you can look at Cody Grimm and see that size can be deceiving. Everyone thought that Grimm was to small to be an effective safty in the NFL but he could be on track to be one of the best. All the film I’ve seen on Houston gets my blood pumpin’! And livin’ in Gator country I’ve been hearin’ about that kid for a while.

  4. gitarlvr Says:

No I agree BuccoBill he could end up being a real prize and not a consolation one. And I don’t consider him small. He’s about 260 and there is more than one good 260 lb defensive end in the NFL. Dwight Freeney for instance. Hell Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila was only 250 lbs. soaking wet and he was an unholy terror as a pass rusher. Its the smaller more explosive ends that tend to make the best edge rushers.

The one thing that has me higher on Aldon Smith than Houston right now is that I can see clear examples, in the videos of Smith vs. Illinois and Colorado, of him using inside moves and even rushing from the defensive tackle spot to sack the QB. There are some hella nice edge rushes by Houston in his highlight video but I didn’t see much in the way of inside moves. I know those videos are only a small snippet of a guys production but its all I have to go by. Then again Houston could offer more versatility as he got plenty of time at outside linebacker this year and could possibly be plugged into the Bucs 3 man fronts very easily as such.

    Your mouse-over pop-ups are realllllyyyy irritating !!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. The D Says:

Not a fan of Houston. All he does is speed rush which will get you no where. Maybe the new coaches can teach him some technique, but im still a little worried. I do agree however, that shorter guys make great rushers. Freeney and Dummervil are some examples. The reason I like Smith a lot is that he has a good range of moves already and has good handwork, but is huge. The only problem with him is that he is very green, but when he did play he dominated. Whatever happens, I trust RahDom will make the right decision.

  8. Macabee Says:

We will be able to get Houston at 20 – no problem. We can have our choice of Aldon Smith, Akeem Ayers, or Ryan Kerrigan if we trade up to 15 with Miami. They are already shopping their pick now. All the mocks I’ve seen have them taking Mark Ingraham. Every team between them and the Bucs already have their premier back. Ingraham will be there at 20. I don’t know what they will want to trade 5 places. Then there’s NE – Belichek will trade his sister! At 17, I would offer Kyle Moore (lousy 4-3, maybe good 3-4) and the 5th we got from Denver.
