“Stop Going To The Pawn Shop!”

January 11th, 2011

OK, the Super Bowl is still a few weeks away and Bucs fans are already getting heated up for the draft. Some are salivating over free agents. Joe has read the comments.

Video star Anwar Richardson — again, wearing his Budweiser Select shirt — and Woody Cummings, both of the Tampa Tribune, discuss what rock star general manager Mark Dominik will do this offseason to bolster the Bucs roster in this TBO Bucs vlog.

Joe cannot believe Team Glazer is going to endorse Dominik going on a spending spree. Please monitor this video and let Joe know what you think of Richardson’s and Cummings’ premises.

Anwar has a point, the pawn shop is for great when you are looking for a few treasures, but once you are good its time to stop dumpster diving and start paying for quality. Although that doesnt mean signining 3+ tpo tier free agents. Id be estatic if we just get 1 stud. (Lamar Woodley is on the top of my wish list)

Anwar does have a point but I think he is going to be disappointed.I love the thought of getting a BIG name but the Bucs will stick with what they know and continue to build from the ground up,all this other free agent stuff sounds sexy but I don’t think they will go that route.

This is the same garbage we heard all last offseason. Everyone thinks they know better than the guys running the show.

It has worked well so far. What on earth would make you think they are going to change what is working?

Let’s face it, the Bucs are VERY young, with talent still developing. Dominic & Morris have proven to have a sharp eye for the draft and to think (as much as I want to) that this team will be super bowl champion ready next year is ludichrist. I expect a playoff contender. If they were to win a Super Bowl next season I would run up and down the streets of North Port naked screaming “Thank you, may another spanking” at the top of my lungs and it would be well worth it. Give them one more draft to plug in some holes & add even more depth. Then you hit the one or two soft spots with a big free agent pick-up the following year. The depth may even present trade value. It will help to draw free agents with a playoff team (as long as we spend the money). The only second thought I have to this plan is that if Rhonde doesn’t come back for a final year we may need some strong aggressive, leadership on defense. Remember Hardy Nickerson on a young Bucs team? Super Bowl here we come!
