Mark Dominik Is The Bucs Story Of 2010

January 2nd, 2011

The rock star status of Bucs general manager Mark Dominik is becoming Eddie Van Halen-like.

Just look who was on the field for the Bucs today, in the thrilling, clinching race-to-10 victory:

The immortal Dezmon Briscoe was clutch (thank you Mo Stovall for participating in the NFL. Please enjoy your departing gift). There was Larry Asante who, outside of Omaha, wouldn’t be identified in a police lineup. The rest of Dominik’s scrap heap warriors are already known to Bucs fans.

Joe doesn’t know where to begin to heap praise on the Bucs rock star general manager. Before you know it, Valerie Bertinelli will be calling him.

There are a myriad of stories about this race to 10 season. The blossoming of Josh Freeman. The play of the stellar rookies. The play of Ronde Barber as if he’s 26. The list is nearly endless.

But the jewels Dominik has unearthed in the rubble of castoffs and wannabe practice squad fodder is in Joe’s eyes the biggest story of the 2010 season.

Mark Dominik has done a phenomenal job this year!

But OMG the Redskins suck!! They’ve been in the redzone twice and haven’t gotten one FG even!

  2. scott Says:

His knack for plugging in players from practice squads or free agency is uncanny. I didn’t think much of the Briscoe hubbub earlier in the year when he was signed, but then Benn went down and I thought ‘oh crap, without another good WR Williams is going to be smothered and Freeman will have no where else to go.’I guess not.

But he couldn’t do it without Raheem, his scheming is keeping a defense, which is sub par at more than a few positions, in the game.

For all the Rah and Dom naysayers and critics we are in the position of the Japanese aboard the USS Missouri.

    Please accept our unconditional surrender.

You know Joe loves ya either way. But that analogy and quaint historical reference rocks. Nice work! 🙂

    Joe won’t play Douglas MacArthur.

Sorry McBuc,safest thing i could think to say, never saw anything like him, player dont play well its the coach a player plays well great find by dominic, what a comination, they obviously listen to each other, morris knew a lot of these players from college and dominic listen to him,and morris trust dominic.I hate to say it again but this team looks alot like the cowboys when jimmy came from college and knew alot af the players in the draft, look at our three amigos, freeman, williams ,blount, gems found in small schools.I love this shi……..

  14. McBuc Says:

Mike…I agree 100%! There are a few guys on this site that blame Morris for everything that goes wrong, but they claim it was the other coaches or players when things go right. Buc You is the ring leader, mostly becasue the others drop out of sight after a win. Buc You is here rain or shine, so he has that going for him. Morris is awsome in my book!

  15. mike56wesley Says:

you know maybe BUC YOU feels like the bad luck guy off of the movie celtic pride, pretend to root for the other guy because his luck is so bad anyone he roots for looses,so thank you for the sacrafices you made bad luck guy

Buc You < What I just flushed down my toilet

One thing that I have noticed on several occasions this year is how the players listen to Morris. As an example, today when Biggers was called for a penalty, he was yapping at the official (or possibly at the Saints). As soon as Morris spoke, Biggers immediately stopped and listened to Morris. He then went to the bench, without saying another word. I’ve seen the same with Mike Williams when he was complaining about the referees. He keeps the players focused, and they listen to him. Being so young there is going to be some discipline issues, but when he speaks, they respond. I think that is very rare in the NFL, and part of what makes Raheem an excellent coach.

As for Dominik, I seriously tried to name my 1 week old son after him, but my wife was a hater and said no. Women!

  20. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

Mark could run for Tampa mayor and win. WE will have Price and McCoy returning with Jackson and Talib on defense, and another draft. Tampa will be a force to be reckoned with in the NFL for years to come, thanks to Mark and Raheem.

  21. Joe Says:

    Apple Roof:

    And Brian Price.

  22. Scott Says:

Lakeland Bob you are 100% correct. All Buc’s fans are racist. Or did you just mean ones who criticize Raheem? Maybe they are double racist. I am trying to branch out though, everybody else already hates black people so I am going to hate Asian/Pacific Islanders and Albino Native Americans.

I mean really you posted “all Bucs fans are racist” and no one calls you on it? WTF? Did everyone that wanted Chuckie fired hate white people?

  23. McBuc Says:

Scott…The regulars knew who he was talking about. There are three posters here at JBF, but they shall remain unnamed by me.

  24. sunrisejeff Says:

Great job by Dom for finding the players and even better job by this coaching staff for getting them ready to play.
