Bucs Want A Teacher

January 31st, 2011

Raheem Morris and Mark Dominik are looking for a teacher to replace Todd Wash.

This is a bit late but better late than never, so Joe apologizes beforehand.

The Bucs have yet to fill the void left by the jettisoning of former defensive line coach Todd Wash. Generally, when an opening lasts into Super Bowl week, it often means said team may be eyeing someone on the staffs of the Super Bowl teams.

Now Joe doesn’t know if that is the case or not, but Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik told good guy Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times that Raheem Morris is wanting a teacher of sorts.

“(Yarber) had some experience in the pros a little bit. . . but he also came from a college mentality where it is about teaching fundamentals,” Dominik said. “And because of where we’re at with our football team, that’s an important thing we’re looking at as well.”

If the Bucs could land someone like Yarber for the defensive line, given the job he has done with the receivers, wow, would that be a catch.

Now here’s something Joe is just going to throw out there. A little birdie told Joe that the Bucs last week at the Senior Bowl interviewed Iowa defensive line coach Rick Kaczenski. Let Joe be clear: Joe could not confirm this, despite working the phones and e-mail with those in the know.

But those same sources also told Joe they could not confirm Kaczenski wasn’t interviewed.

At first blush, Joe wondered why on earth a college coach would jump to the NFL this season when there may be no season? If anything, NFL coaches are jumping to college because there are jobs this fall.

But then Joe remembered what’s going on at Iowa of late and it very well could be a case of the rats are jumping off the ship. It’s quite possible there will be heads rolling in Iowa City.

More likely, Joe is guessing someone spotted Kaczenski talking to Dominik or Raheem about Adrian Clayborn and the person who sang to Joe was putting two-and-two together and coming up with five.

Stories like these keep me coming back to JBF nation.

Thanks for some inside info, Joe.

Heck, maybe they do want the D Line coach and he will give them more info on Clayborn??

Joe, if we are in deed looking to hire a super bowl d line coach, which guy would u guess we’re looking at and would that solidify the 3-4 speculation that goes on in these comment sections??

  2. Capt.Tim Says:

Lol bird singing- Steelers D-line assistant coach may be getting a promotion soon . . .

  3. gotbbucs Says:

my guess would be that they were doing some homework on adrian clayborn, but iowa has had some pretty good d-lines the last few years so he could be a candidate for the job as well. iowa runs nothing but base 4-3 defensive sets.

  4. Thomas 2.2 Says:

I believe that the price of a college D Line coach from a program that is being critically targeted would be a lot less than an established nfl guy.

also, rah would not have to be scared about feeling inferior to a guy with a NFL resume. Hence, the firings or defections of any coach older and more experienced since 2009.

  5. feel Says:

Thomas- you are projecting your own insecurities on your perceptions of other people. I assure you, Raheem is not “scared” of anyone. But go ahead and sit in your parent’s basement and keep coming up with theories…

  6. Gary Says:

I try so hard to ignore that fool, but I just can’t help but get angry! Damn you Thomas! No matter what, the blind hatred and utter stupidity of your posts gets me everytime.

I think you have found your talent in life. Getting under the skin of people with an IQ above 40 comes so easy and naturally to you. Take this show on the road lil’ buddy, don’t let the door hit you on your clitoris on your way out!

  7. Capt.Tim Says:

Sit in your parents basement- staring at your Gruden poster, touching yourself, and trying to ruin every post on JoeBuc. Thomas, who has stated he was gay during one of the on line chats, has had a terrible affect on me. Everytime I am about to make a huge donation to aids research( ok, ok,probably not that often), I think Of Thomas. Then I go spend the money at ” Thee Doll House” and the”Mons Venus” instead. Just a damn shame!
With a line full of rookies, 1st,and 2nd year players- we really need a teacher for the D-line. John Mitchell of Pittsburgh would be a great teacher, but he would want to be DC. A posistion he hasn’t held. But would be great at IMO. Did some research at DE. JJ Watts and Robert Quinn Could both be great additions to this Defense. Man, alot of Great DEs in this draft!

  8. Gary Says:

Seriously Thomas, does it not hurt your pride to see so many people post nasty things about you? If you had any kind of human dignity, you would take offense to these things and come back with solid arguments supported with facts to prove your worth.

But you do nothing, you never respond to people calling you stupid, gay, an infant… etc; all you do is wait for the next post to throw some more sh!t on these pages.

What is your deal man? Start commenting like a real man and people might stop ragging on you. Eric is a perfect example, we all hate him too but put up with it because he admits when he is wrong and will support Rah when thinks he has earned it.

Sorry to feed this vicious cycle by paying attention to him guys, but his crap is getting really old. I want to see if he will ever respond. Your move Thomas.

  9. Architek Says:

Thomas shet the hell up with that garbage, we do not need that around here. Joe is there any justifications for filtering certain posters in this blog. Thomas is a downright insult to this site, Bucs fans, players, and coaches. It’s obvious that he has had limited exposure.

  10. Capt.Tim Says:

A Lil off target, but did you guys see Donald Penn playing RT at the pro Bowl yesterday? He played it Pretty well. Man, he just looks HUGE next to the other lineman. We gotta have them recheck his measurables- cause he’s GROWN! I swear he must be 6’8″ and 360#. just dwarfed the AFC players!
The first wave of Free agency isn’t far off. It starts before the draft. Biggest Free agent class ever, and we have a ton of Money to spend! Want to see A TE, DE, LB(or 2),Guard, and meybe a safety! Anyone know when the first day of FA starts?

  11. lakeland bob Says:

Gary-you’re beating a dead horse. This guy gets his rocks off pissin people off and you guys fuel the fire by responding.Like a wise man once said(you wrestle with a turd and you’re bound to get sh!t on you).

  12. gotbbucs Says:

capt. tim, free agency wont start until an agreement is made on a new cba.

  13. Capt.Tim Says:

Ate you sure about that, GotBucs? They said the draft would procede as normal. The first wave of FA is prior to that.

  14. Matt Says:

No FAs until a new CBA is reached.

In other words, no free agency for months and months. My guess is: don’t expect anything until June at the earliest.

  15. Matt Says:

    FYI Capt. Tim: http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/18144/what-to-expect-in-a-lockout

  16. gotbbucs Says:

    im positive capt.

  17. Joe Says:

    Capt.Tim:

Once the CBA expires — March 4? — there can be no player movement, trades or free agent signings, until a new CBA is in place.

The draft will take place as schedule, though no signings.

Peter King wrote about this in detail this morning.

  18. Capt.Tim Says:

Damn- was hoping for a burst of frenzied activity here in a month or so. This CBA is starting ta piss on my parade. I vote we burn Thomas at the Stake. Just to add a little excitement till the draft. Who’s in?

  19. RustyRhino Says:

from just reading this I searched for Rich Kaczenski found a great video
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIo4mJbrN3Y&feature=related
Called Iowa Defensive Drill Part 2 of 2
If this is some of what will be drilled every practice I like the look of this.

    Found this one as well.

  21. Capt.Tim Says:

Thanks for the info guys, though it was depressing. And thanks for the Link, Double R!
Now , if we Could get rid of Thomas? He really doesn’t contribute, and tries only to annoy and kill conversations. He’s just gotten to be so annoying, that it’s hard to stomach anymore. Its just the same drivel over and over. Every day, in every post- just to be an ass.

  22. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I totally agree with you Captain. It’s one thing to disagree with some things the team does (I’m sure we all have these times), it’s another to hate EVERYTHING the team does. All he is doing is making every post about himself, which takes away from what we should be discussing. I would rather have fans from other teams come here and talk trash than have one of our own (allegedly) always saying the same things over and over. It really makes coming on to my favorite Bucs site a whole lot less enjoyable. The worst part is, he’s going to post negativity every single day during the offseason. The offseason is already miserable enough without this arse clown making it worse.

  23. RustyRhino Says:

    LOL Hawaii
The offseason is already miserable enough without this arse clown making it worse
    Right on there!!

I read what thomas and all the others that post here I don’t always agree with it and it is their time and place to write what they want. But it is getting very hard to care what they think. I like the look of our young hungry team.
If and I say “IF” we do get this coach I would be all for it, and would love to have a hungry Dline quality control coach we all know and have read right here.
    Heres pulling for ya STEVE!!
Bring on the SB! Don’t we get to play both these teams again next season?

  24. BigMacAttack Says:

Deja Freakin Vu. WTF? Is it Sunday? Again? Am I Bill Murray? Or is that @sshole Thomas up to his same $hit again?

Look you little Buc Hatin POS, you need to stop bashing our Coach you worthless little bed bug. Get a new line and plumb your @ss up. Get with the program, post your ideas on how to improve the team, but Coach Rah ain’t it and I’m sick of you bashing him. Until you stop, all i am going to do is come here every day and bash you over and over again and clog this whole place up. This phuckin $h!t needs to stop. Okay, here goes. Sorry Joe.

  25. BigMacAttack Says:

C’mon Joe, why don’t you do something about this little @ssclown.

  26. BigMacAttack Says:

You know Thomas, I wish we were all in a bar having this conversation,, because your bashed in face would be used for mopping the floor and then sweeping the parking lot. You useless little punk, go take a flyin phuc!!!

  27. BigMacAttack Says:

Joe, if you won’t do something about it, I guess that leaves me, and anyone else that has had enough. clubs should have rules and etiquette, and yes I swear when D bags make me, but a club turns to $h!t when 1 single person just hates and hates on the club and what they represent. Again, I’m sorry guys but at when is enough enough??? I’d say about 12 months ago.

  28. Hawaiian Buc Says:

In fairness to Joe, I understand why he wouldn’t want to ban Thomas. The only credit I will give Thomas is that he knows how to not cross the line, and he doesn’t. However, to me the more important question is why Thomas even shows up here in the first place? Not one person on this site values or even wants his opinion, yet he always gives it. Not one person would be the least bit upset if he never showed up again, but he always does. Obviously, he gets some kind of thrill out of it. What kind of a person enjoys this kind of thing? Most halfway normal and intelligent people would not show up somewhere where he or she is not wanted, yet this guy does.

  29. Joe Says:

Not to stray off topic, but more and more Joe is turning anti-free agent signings of just about any significance.

Green Bay’s Ted Thompson is really an anti-free agent guy and thinks its smarter to build through the draft rather than overpay for a player that likely has reached his peak.

With the exception of signing Charles Woodson, look at where the Packers are. They are loaded with young talent.

The Steelers rarely sign free agents, unless it is their own, and even then not often. They have six and maybe a seventh Lombardi Trophy.

More and more Dominik’s philosophy, while unpopular with the masses living in a quick fix society, is really the smart way to go.

Joe read on the internet a profile on Ted Thompson which Mike Holgrem talked about what a smart personnel guy he is and the light is beginning to shine for Joe.

  30. gotbbucs Says:

Don’t forget too Joe that Woodson sat on the market for quite a while before he finally signed with the Packers.
What I like about mainly using the draft is that I think most hardcore fans of any club feel alot closer to the players that grow up in the system and didn’t just show up because the money was good. That, and most lasting contenders are teams that follow the draft and grow philosophy.

  31. Capt.Tim Says:

I hear ya Joe! They are are showing a great program on the terrible BSPN about the rookies. Just a ton of talk and film with Mike Williams. In one shot, it showed Freeman,Williams,Benn,Blount,Larsen, and Hardman in the huddle. I look at that and am like- Damn !! How am I supposed to wait til the season starts again! I have watched this team since I was alittle kid- their first season. I have never been this excited about a buccaneer offense, or a Buc Team!! And I have loved the team since I was that Lil kid. I didn’t feel that excited when we were bringing in older players from other teams. They were Bucs, and I respected and cheered for all of them. But there is something really Special about Freeman, Williams, and Blount suceeding far beyond what everyone thought- it fires me up! I’ve learned to trust Dominick so much- I just know we are gonna have a great young DE next season. I am already going Crazy waiting to see these guys play next season. My health has failed. I have some hard things to face ahead of me . I have a young daughter. But one thing that kills me(haha) is that I can’t take her to the games, and share this young team with her and my young wife, the way my father did with me.
    Now, about Thomas . . .
