“Man, That Was An Ugly Game By Us”

December 12th, 2010

Thanks for the clock management, Mike.

No style points today.

The win thing is all that matters for the battered Bucs, but frankly very little can be taken away from this W.

Joe sees the Bucs in a playoff push and this wasn’t close to playoff football, despite the standout plays. If the Redskins aren’t playing like the Bad News Bears, then the Bucs fans are probably moaning about the team coming out flat and whatever the opposite of violent is.

Joe is comforted that Raheem Morris was grounded in reality after the game. No need to look at the film first on this one.

“Man, that was an ugly game by us,” Raheem barked at his team in the locker room in front the FOX Sports cameras.

Raheem used the “U” word again to the local beat writers at his news conference.

“We’re not going to be apologetic for any forms of wins,” the head coach said.

With the stunning number of Bucs injuries, Joe expects a lot of ugly the rest of the way, especially on defense.

Ugly game by a young Bucs team with a bunch 3rd/4th stringers playing huge amount of snaps on the road; Uglier game by a veteran Washington team/coaching staff who couldn’t help but lose at home.

This has been a pretty good season in all reality. We smashed our projected record. We should win at least one more. The haters will cry, but the production we have gotten with this roster is a miracle. GOOO BUCS!!!

  3. thomas 2.1 Says:

    miracle is right!

this team is so lucky that to start the second half with washington supposed to get the ball and continue the 10 yards a pop runs right down their throats, the wind blows the ball off the tee just before the kicker is to kick causing an unintentional onside kick that gets recovered by the Bucs and turned into points and changing momentum!

Then the missed short field goals, botched PAT, dropped INT / pick 6 from hall; unbelievable.

I have never seen such a thing in decades of watching football.

almost every team has at least one game like this a year. you shower up quick and run for the plane before something else bad happens. sometimes ugly does the trick. i’ll take a win anyway i can get one..

  5. Brad Says:

I agree with Hire Greg… Joe where in the hell is the love and support. You’ve called us lucky and ugly. It was a win and no matter how you get it, it’s beautiful. With this team getting younger every week from injuries either by age or experience I think it’s amazing how no matter who’s playing this team is awesome in the second half. Was the first half butt ugly? Yes! But this team has exceeded everyones expectations and were 1 win away from a winning season. Take away the 5 downs and Raheem has his 6th second half shut out.. That’s incredible. I can’t believe the ridiculous negativity. We have years to look forward too. Come on Joe. Find something positive to write about.

  6. Mark Says:

I agree w/ Brad, it’s surprising the Bucs are even competitive w/ the number of backups playing. Any other team, given our situation, wouldn’t even have a chance to be lucky. Gotta give the coaching staff credit for the 2nd half performance and the shut down of the Redskins minus the final drive. The Bucs next year are gonna have major depth and will be known for the “next guy in” mentality. I’m nothing but proud with the way these Bucs performed.

It’s funny that w/o the Giants/Vikings game, almost all of the televisions that would have seen that game saw the GB/DET game…no respect for the Bucs…

    Keep provin’ them wrong!!!

    GO BUCS!

  7. Dave Says:

Damn ugly! BUT a win is a win.

Again, they seemed to get away from the run too much, I took it as disgust in the Blount fumble… AGAIN!

Blount and Williams need to work on their hands this offseason… as good as they have been, they can improve ALOT.

I know Talib and Grimm being out hurt the run defense some… BUT SERIOUSLY??!?!??? That was a pathetic display by EVERYONE on the fron 7.

The seconf half seemed to change because Roy Miller seemed to step up, not sure anyone else did though, the Skins jsut got away from their running also.

  8. Lucas Jackson Says:

Ugly wins are fun if for no other reason than to read what 2.1 has to say. 🙂

  9. Squadoosh1 Says:

I can imagine Thomas 2.1 sitting next to his lifesize cardboard cutout of Bill Cowher in his moms house screaming and crying in disgust as the Bucs won again…nooooooooooo!!!!!!!

  10. Brad Says:

2.1 is a dumbass!! How about the botched fumble on Freeman? That was a td all day. Then the 5 downs it took the Redskins to score it’s only points in the entire second half? Not to mention a ton of rookies playing across the board on both sides of the ball. I was dead set against Raheem last year and was not expecting anything special this year but this guy has done a ridiculous jobs with a young team and the way they have to overcome injuries has been amazing. If Raheem doesn’t get coach of the year then no one should. I’m a huge fan of Raheems now and so should everyone else. Except 2.1. What a dumbass loser.

  11. Andrew Says:

I would say the first half was ugly the second half was a great example of a team making some solid adjustments. When you consider how many of the Bucs are hurt and how young they are it’s a really great win…botched XP and all.

  12. gotbbucs Says:

bottom line, this team believes in itself. no matter the circumstance, they think they can overcome.

  13. Cannon Says:

What baffles me is how a pro defense can get knocked silly by the run in the first half of a game, only to shut it down in the second half.

This isn’t the first time either, its a trend that has occurred all season.

Makes me wonder what the hell is said during half time.

  14. sunrisejeff Says:

Agree with you there Cannon…..Heem must give a HELL of a halftime pep talk in games like this. Very rare to see so many young players just wipe their minds clear of a first half like that and come out refocused in the 2nd half.

  15. McBuc Says:

I wish whatever is said at the half would be said before the game!
