Dominik Says Zuttah Is A “Changed” Man

December 22nd, 2010

It seems the anonymous source those colorful fellows at PewterReport.com used to trash Jeremy Zuttah months ago may have unveiled himself unknowingly on local radio.

That would be Bucs general manager Mark Dominik.

In a Tuesday interview with the dean of Tampa Bay sports radio, Steve Duemig of WDAE-AM 620, the drive time king told Dominik that Zuttah might be the Bucs’ MVP this season. And Dominik replied as follows:

“He’s really stepped up and stepped through in different positions. And really, I think his demeanor and his outlook on this football team has completely changed. I think he’s really bought into what we’re doing and relishing wherever he can help contribute,” Dominik said.

So Dominik says Zuttah’s attitude has turned around “completely” and now he’s a team guy. Hmmm, so where the heck was Zuttah’s head before?

Very rare that Dominik would all but say a player’s mind wasn’t where it needed to be, especially a heady young player who has learned multiple positions and never been in off-the-field trouble.

Joe suspects Dominik initially misjudged Zuttah’s work ethic or attitude, or there was an incident that Zuttah had to overcome to re-establish himself.

Interesting stuff. (Joe suspects there could be a JimBuc sighting soon.)

    Zuttah is a beast.

  2. Bib Fortuna Says:

In other words, Pewter Report was probably right.

Yeah, Joe, wasn’t your point before that PR was wrong to use anonymous (unreliable) sources for its “hatchet job” on Zuttah? I’m guessing Dominick is A-OK as a source?

  4. Gatorbuc15 Says:

He has played better in the last couple of games that’s for sure. Maybe that’s what Dominik is referring to, then again maybe not.

  5. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

Tampa is fortunate to have a player like Zuttah.

How could anyone be motivated for playing for the Bucs last year? Their abysmal start to the season continued on a downward spiral. It’s hard to go to work every day when the situation sucks. This year it started with 180 degree turnaround and everyone knew this was going to be the Bucs’ best rookie class in a while. Zuttah is a very smart guy. He is also very stong, no longer a kid, and ready to take his place in front of Freeman for years to come. Was Suh on the field last week for more than that one good tackle for a loss. I didn’t see him other than that one play. He must have been a non factor.

I love how Joe praises Deumig like royalty when all others trash the man. I don’t live in Tampa so I have never heard him, but its just funny how respect has to be paid when he affects your profession.

I don’t see how this in any way suggests that Dominick is the source for Pewter Reports previous story.

Joe I love ya but some times you really do make some pretty big jumps to conclusions.

All this tells me is that the source was right. It could have been the guy who cleans the tables in the cafeteria for all we know.

If Joe is right and Mark Dominic is PR’s source, then I don’t think Joe could be giving them a better promotion than this article.

It’s kind of like Burger King making a commercial about how they are pretty sure McDonald’s sells Angus burgers and they don’t.
