Joe Tied For 26th; Steve White In Fifth

November 22nd, 2010

As Joe kills time before Raheem Morris’ 4 p.m. news conference, Joe thought he’d let readers know how the renowned annual pick-against-the-spread pool is going.

At this point, Joe is tied for 26th place out of a field of 49 allegedly intelligent readers. Joe’s not going to cry about that. There’s a load of games left and the pack is pretty tight.

Unfortunatlely, Joe sits at 49.2 percent, which means a farm animal putting his paw on a helmet would probably fare just as well.

Former Buccaneer defensive end Steve White is tied for fifth place, seven games up on Joe and with a very respectable 53.5 percent winning percentage.

Joe fully expects to be his best self and win the season-long pool.

I’m continually amused at how well I do at the straight-up picks (well, until this past weekend) and how horribly horrible I am vs. the spread.

Also: all hail woodenman, who’s still killing the spread picks despite skipping a week.

    I should have joined your pool. I was 84 – 60 (58%) after week 10 and I’m #43 of 76 folks! lol

Well I felt bad because after a bad week I fell from third to ninth, now I feel better.

Hey Joe/s: One other thing about the pool. How come not picking a game does not count against you? I know last week the percentage leader had made picks in less than the total amount of games. It seems like that is incentive to pick the easy ones and skip the ones you’re not sure about.
