Dixie Chicks-Bucs Game Now On National TV

November 22nd, 2010

Bucs fans have rapped their empty beer bottles on the table over this, screamed at sports radio show hosts, mocked Peter King and Adam Schein and fired off angry e-mails to no one in particular in cyberspace:

Why won’t “The Media” (read: Park Ave.) give us attention?!

Well, ya got it now!

The NFL has moved the Dixie Chicks-Bucs game on Dec. 5 to 4:15. Not, 4 p.m., not 4:05 p.m., but 4:15 p.m.

That means a national TV audience on Fox.

So everyone across the country will be able to see the Bucs without the need of the godsend known as NFL Sunday Ticket.

This new kickoff time is great for tailgating. Noon games you have to get up early on a Sunday morning and rush. Night games, well, you enjoy it too much and it makes for a rough Monday morning. For tailgating, 4:15 p.m. is perfect. No rush. Plenty of time to get well-lubricated and plenty of time to sleep it off.

As Joe asked before, however, will the locals get to see it as well?

    It’s official: “Throwback Payback”

Sweet! Now lets hope we knock off the Ravens and do this up right!

Now would be a good time for the Glazers to come up with some sort of special for tickets. Get some buildup going for this game

I think the national media made it’s first step to admitting the Bucs have caught their eye (as we know “Matty-Ice” already has them fawning over all things Falcon)…

…but it also shows they don’t completely buy-in yet – or they would have moved Falcons-Bucs to the Sunday night game.

…it’s not personal, they’re selling advertising – you don’t do that if the hometown team isn’t good enough to prevent a lopsided victory. They need to keep folks from turning their channels.

I have to agree with them on their assesment – if we’re competitive/beat the Ravens this week – a Sunday Night game may well be on the horizon!

    GO BUCS!

The Dixie Chicks and Bucs could be both undefeated and so long as Pittsburgh has a winning record there was no way that game was being moved out of the Sunday night slot. Steelers games are guarenteed eyeballs.

That’s why you always see those damned NFC East games on Sunday night. Eyeballs.

Ugh! This is gonna be bad! I’m not worried about the team, I fully expect a win. But imagine how lame that empty stadium is gonna make US look!! You think the media was making fun of Tampa during the Rays run, just wait til this happens!! The team fighting for first place in the NFC south, and the stadium looking like it did last home game?!?! Gawd, they’ll trash Tampa from coast to coast. And we will be the only people in the country who WON’T see the game, due to blackout. Welcome to a minor league reputation, ladies and gentleman. If it’s like the last home game, it’ll be bad! Stadium 1/4 full, and half of them cheering for the visiting team. Might be the worst reflection on this city ever. Man, I sure wasn’t wishing for this. Bad enough to be privately embarrassed. Now the whole country gonna see how bad Fan support here is!

  8. Neecee Says:

I for one drive 3.5hrs to see these games at Ray Jay and sooo glad its not the night game. As it is this game will put me not getting home until after 11p on Sun and gotta be at work bright and early on Mon.

I think we have a decent chance at beating Baltimore and keep the road wins going and we will capitalize on the dirty birds. I’m sure the boys have a chip on their shoulder for Free losing the mic to the helmet at the end of the game (whether they meant to or not) he will now unload.

This IS the game the Glazers need to pull out all stops not to ensure it is sold out and the stadium is full. Run a buy one get one ticket promo, give season ticket holders an extra seat or two for this game, donate to charity…I don’t care but if we are being put in the spotlight the crowd needs to show up and be the 12th man on the D.

Lets go Bucs fans…lets sell this game out. I understand there are financial restraints for some but if you can afford it THIS is the game to go to!

I just hope we aren’t 7-4 with the Falcons at 9-2. It would be great if we actually had a chance to tie things up with that game.

I guess I’m drinking the kool-aid cause I’m actually starting to believe we could beat the Ravens….OK not really. I just had to say it to see how it felt.

The truth our offense has not looked very good lately and Freeman struggles against defenses like the Ravens that use a 3-4 hybrid. I really feel like we are gonna have a bad day offensively. If our defense can surprise everyone and play as well as they did this week vs the 49ers, then I think it could be close but we still lose.

I just think the Ravens are in a different class than us. I’d love to be wrong, and if we do somehow pull out this win…I will immediately believe we can do anything. Even win the superbowl. So go Bucs.

Same here. But, they bring eyeballs.

  12. ShortyBuc Says:

Tell me about it..Up here in Charlotte, next week they are showing the Eagles at Bears instead of Bucs Ravens, then the next week the Kitty Kats play at Seattle at the same time as Falcons Bucs, so me no see on my TV…Looks like my local tavern will get me every week this season..They already had to scrape me off the floor during the Steelers Bucs game

  13. Jesse Says:

Shorty how do you know, the coverage maps havent come out yet have they?

  14. Jesse Says:

    btw, lol.

Just saw a breaking news thing that said “Mike William’s Injury May Be Serious”

bout had a heart attack. But it was the Seattle version. :3

  15. ShortyBuc Says:

Hey Jesse..The easiest thing to do is google msntv listings…type in your zip code and provider and you can see whos playing who in your area on which channels…Youre right about the coverage maps on a week to week basis..The reason I know for the Falcons game is not shown on Natnl TV in Charlotte is because they never show any other games while Sir Purr is playing up here..and you guessed it both Bucs and Kitten games are on Fox at same time ..so off to the Tavern I go for some pints!!!

the steelers really have become the nfl’s version of the yankees/red sox. they are on national tv nearly every time i turn the tv on. i’ve really learned to hate those bastards. god forbid the nation be subjected to an up and coming team that no one knows…yet. no, lets put the steelers on again. bunch of aholes.

  17. JDouble Says:

When the Steelers stop being good, they won’t be on TV so much. I personally can’t stand Steeler fans, but the Steelers are a damn good team and have been consistantly for a very long time. They deserve the attention they get.

  18. Jesse Says:

Shorty, I feel your pain. Living in Mooresville, NC I get to see plenty of baby blue.

  19. Gary Says:

We Are forcing everyone to finally show us some love. Now our fickle whining fans have to stop embarrassing the rest of our fans and sell this damn game out! The economy isn’t an excuse in other places. I know there are enough people that have money to sell out they CHOOSE not to go. People are hurtin but let’s be real, if places like Detroit and jax can sell out we have nothing to say.

There’s no “deserve” about it. The Steelers draw eyeballs which is what TV executives covet. They have a significant national fan base not unlike the Yankees and Red Sox, or to a lesser degree the Cardinals, Cubs or Dodgers.

TV executives don’t give a damn who wins or loses or what team may “deserve” a primetime game. They wants eyeballs. Sometimes the NFL has to nudge a network to take a game but it’s all about eyeballs for the suits. Eyeballs = ad dollars.

If the Steelers have a winning record, it’s nearly as unlikely a TV network would pull a Steelers game off of primetime as it would for Joe to find Rachel Watson waiting for him when Joe arrives from work.

  21. Architek79 Says:

Joe thats the bottomline and I agree but the horizon is that if a team can win regardless of the NFL executive program directors are selling they will become more of a story in the post-season and force the NFL to show them more at their expense because of the demand for the storyline that American viewers so-love. We are an emotional culture and us as fans are very connected to our sports (football especially).

  22. McBuc Says:

I was at the Panthers game, and we were close to having that one sold out. I also saw very few Car fans. This one just may sell out.
