The Cardinals Are So Beatable

October 27th, 2010

"Oh, Joe. Of course the Bucs will win. They're the best team in the NFC."

It’s tough to win on the road, let alone on the West Coast, so Joe’s hardly chalking up a W for the Bucs in Arizona on Sunday.

But realistically the Bucs have to win because it’s a winnable game. Arizona is a team in disarray without a decent quarterback. Their offense is a total mess, last in passing and 28th in rushing. Hopefully, undrafted rookie quarterback Max Hall gets another start.

Joe plucked the following from Dan Bickley’s column in the Arizona Republic.

We’re acting like Denny Green, and we need to stop.

“Maxhas big shoes to fill in regard to his position and the team’s expectations,” Warner said. “That lends itself to impatience.”

There’s no doubt that head coach Ken Whisenhunt has taken a tremendous gamble with the quarterback position. He left himself exposed and is beginning to hear national ridicule for entering the season with two rookies and a Cleveland reject. It didn’t have to be this way. But let’s not forget how much the offense struggled under Matt Leinart’s command.

Truth is, the moment Warner ruined their plan, walking away from $11 million, the 2010 season became a transition year.

The Cardinals are a mess but managed to beat the Saints.

Joe wonders if a win Sunday will all but guarantee Raheem Morris’ return in 2010.

Somewhere Eric and Thomas and Tampa2 and RahDom (Javier? Buc You?) just dropped to their knees and began praying for a loss.

Truth is, I got down on Raheem too, but after he adapted in the second 1/2, and put Blount in there, he made me happy. I think all any Tampa Fan wants is for us to win, and we get frustrated when we don’t. I honestly feel if we can run the ball, we can play with just about anybody, and beat a lot of teams. I think Tampa will beat Arizona this Sunday.

Cards looked horrible (worse than the Bucs during the 1st half Sunday). Should be a W, but don’t think this one game determines Rah’s future. Still a lot of football to be played, and the team will need to show continued improvement and not regress. Funny how the conversations this week would be COMPLETELY different if that last drive ends without a touchdown.

  5. Posey99 Says:

Apple roof, i agree. Look at what we have done through 5 games with absolutley no running game. If our running game gets going we should really be able to open things up for a more passing offense and keep our D of the field.

    1) The Steelers played Charlie Batch and we thought it would be winnable. I do hope for a in though.

    2) Dan Bickley:

Truth is, the moment Warner ruined their plan…

Pointing fingers. Even if Warner were there, they would have struggled, though likely not to the same extent. The truth is they were lucky to have a good run, and blaming Warner for this year is a copout. Move on people…it’s not so bad…we did it!

darn it messed up my quote again, lol

This game will be the Bucs first blowout win of the season. The Cards win over N.O. was as fluky a win as their has ever been in football. They didn’t score an offensive touchdown. That win wasn’t ugly it was straight up dumb luck. The reason I know the bucs will spank this team is two-fold. One they have a rookie QB who just looked like he didn’t belong in the NFL period. Watching him crumble like a brown paper bag after taking a hit from a couple saints defenders on a scramble I immediately knew this 6-1 205 lb. guy isn’t really physically built for the NFL. Maybe he can overcome that but it won’t be next week. More importantly these guys have been a pass first team until Warner retired and if there is a team the Bucs run D can get healthy against it should be this one. And if Max Hall doesn’t play, no one in the league is more of a meltdown artist than Derek Anderson.

The Bucs have 3 games that were flukes. Talk about dumb luck.

I won’t be surprised if we win 2 of our next three. Cardinals – W, Falcons – L, Panthers – W. That would put us at 6-3, which would be surprising to some, but I don’t think that would make Rah safe. The first half of our shedule has been kind to say the least.

After that we have a tough stretch and the only really bad team is the Lions….maybe the 49ers, but something tells me they’ll be playing good football by then. Anyways, we could easily lose 5 or 6 of our final 7 games. Hell, we could lose all seven of our final games if the Lions manage to beat us. If we finish like that, I don’t think squeaking out four wins against bad teams at the beginning of the season will matter.

Joe, and many others like to say all that matters in the win, but that isn’t true. This is a young, rebuilding team and I am sure the Glazers want to see development and improvement as the season goes on. If we regress and finish the year badly, I can see Rah getting canned. Personally I hope he doesn’t, but I can see it happening and 4-2, or even 6-3 doesn’t change anything. It’s all about how we finsh the season.

Look how the Glazers reacted when Gruden went 9-7 and the collapsed and lost the final four. This is a different situation, but I can see them reacting the same way.

He’s not pointing fingers. He’s just stating the fact that they were forced into re-tooling because of Warner’s decision.

Jesus, some of you have the worst reading comprehension skills.

  12. Capt.Tim Says:

Arizona is not the same team without Warner. Not even close. Makes you appreciate having Freeman even more when you see how that trances collapsed without it’s Qb, plus a couple of others. Buuut, we have ussually struggled on the west coast. It is a game we can win! JimBuc , lmao! I can picture the slow squad, gathered around their gruden poster, chanting and praying for a Buc lose! Lol! This season has to be like a nightmare for them. They never imagined us having the best record in the NFC at the half way point! If we make the playoffs, they’ll be at the Skyway Bridge jumper platform for sure!!

  13. northernbucsfan Says:

If Blount gets 20-25 carries Bucs will win handily!

  14. Patrick Says:

If we beat the Cardinals, which we better do, we need to win by a lot. Not another game where we just get by on a 3 point win. I mean i’m happy with a win regardless of how it’s done, but I’m just saying. Even though we’re only playing the Cardinals, people would respect us more if we blew them out. We need to put up both a lot of yards and points!

Got my Bible out already! I don’t know who that QB is, but I’m going to be his biggest fan Sunday! But since I know they beat the Saints I am not too worried. Especially after the “SPANKING” the Saints put on Raheem the Dream’s run stuffing, violent defense!

Tugboat Timmie says 1) We got the best defense in the NFC. And 2) We have usually struggled on the West Coast. Well, Timmie. If your Tugboat was bigger than bathtub size you would know that Arizona Ins’t on the West Coast. And you would also know that the whole NFL is laughing at Raheem’s “we are the best” Blurb! Arizona might have won by a fluke, but it seems they were in the game to win the Fluke. Quite unlike Raheem’s violent, run stuffing Defense, which has now allowed 4 different running backs in 4 consecutive games to go over that 100 yard mark. I can’t wait until Suh gets to Tampa so he can show Dominik what a “real” #1 pick looks like. You should face facts, TImmie, without Freeman’s heroics Raheem the Dream would be fired already! Now your amateur hero has the whole NFL laughing at him! So I will be cheering for some unknown QB in Arizona to produce yet another 100 yard runner so we can finally get a real coach in here!

  16. Culverhouse Blazer 808 Says:

Woah… fairweather trolls all over the place. You guys need a hug, or some new meds. I for one am enjoying the hell out of watching this team grow. Do you guys really not think we won’t be elite in a couple of years with this core? You gotta be nuts, or Gruden apologists.

  17. Capt.Tim Says:

Tampon2, I didn’t say anything about ” best defense in NFC”. I also know why you, like RahDomDaRacist, are cheering against this team. So you can Blo* me. Anyone who is”cheering for some Unknown QB” in Arizona” to beat the Bucs is just a pathetic loser. No one is laughing at Raheem. Wevare all laughing at you. Back under your rock, town fool. We know what your problem is. Enjoy watching the Bucs continue to make you look like an idiot. Meybe If Raheem wins Coach of the year., you’ll invite the real Buc fans to your Winning performance at the Skyway jumper platform. But at least you’ve finally shown your true colors. Now the rest of the posters here won’t ever mistake you for Bucs fan. We see who you are now! Amazing how often I get the ignorant ones to show their true colors. You’ve joined ranks with RahDom and Thomas. Congrats!
