Huggins Lost For The Year

October 18th, 2010

The bad news was made official: Kareem Huggins is lost for the season with injuries to his knee ligaments, so said Raheem Morris during his news conference today.

Huggins injured his knee during the 2009 preseason, then had more problems this year. After one strong run from scrimmage against New Orleans, Huggins was hurt getting hit while catching a pass.

Joe hopes Huggins, a great young man, gets another shot.

    That was a cheap hit by that Saints defender too. No need to lay a helmet on a guys knees.

  2. Sensiblebuc Says:

    Agreed. Dick move by a bigger defender against a guy who was defenseless.

  3. Travis Says:

    ^^^ Wrong, he was making a tackle, nothing dirty there. Just unfortunate for Kareem. Yet another RB who wont be on the roster next year

  4. Pete Dutcher Says:

    Could be worse…could be his knees.

    This may work out for us though, if Blount get’s gametime. But the way our Offensive Line is blocking, we’re not going to have a running game for a long, long time. But then, what else is new?

  5. Buc You Says:

    I saw the hit, the guy laid his helmet on the knees man. He should have went for the thighs or waist or eve the feet. It could have been an accident, but it sure looked like he was going for the knees.

    What do you mean “it could be his knees”?

    Man that sucks, the dude was finally gonna get some playing time.

    We need to play Blount so folks can put away this fantasy that the man is Earl Campbell and Jeff Fisher decided to let him go.

    @Travis

    Don’t talk unless you saw the hit. Was it illegal? No. Was it necessary for the 6’3 250 pound Dunbar (I believe) to dive at the 5’8 190 pound Huggins’ knees when he doesn’t even see you? Absolutely not. You hit big backs low and scat high when you’re that big.

    Bottom line: It was a dick move.

  9. sensiblebuc Says:

    * scat backs

    Mr sensiblebuc:

    I suppose since i saw the hit ill talk? Is that ok with you?

    The LB dove for the tackle, just so happens that Kareem had turned his body and was squared up facing the LB. the LB whacked him in the knee, when i saw it, it looked like a hyper-extended knee, but ACL’s tear in different ways.

    Bottom line, it wasn’t a cheap-shot. A cheap-shot is what Malcom Jenkins tried on Freeman (diving for his knees purposely when he is out of bounds.)

  11. Steve From Oregon Says:

    I dont think it was a cheap shot…..just one of those unfortunate plays….

    Sorry Huggy, I really wish you had gotten a real shot to run the ball, return kicks, be a Wildcat QB….something.

    @Travis

    Looks like we’ll have to agree to disagree. As I’ve already mentioned, his technique was terrible and it got a guy injured (probably ending his career with the Bucs). It was a dick move. Completely unnecessary.

  13. Al Says:

    Raiders are willing to trade any of their players before the deadline. McFadden anyone?

    I meant like Caddy’s knee issues…but you are right. I’m not having a good week, so not thinking clearly…one of those extremely high stress weeks that I would not wish on anyone.

    I also saw it, and I agree. I bet there is no fine resulting from it either. Now Jenkins on the other hand…although it was nice seeing Freeman get fired up, lol.

    Eric you idiot, no one said he is Earl Campbell…but dude is tough, his first pro run ever and he drags Polomalu for 5 yards ?!? Pretty good….

    Living on the west coast in pac 10 country I saw him play a lot and would have been a first round pick if he didn’t punch dude in the face…

    Jeff Fischer and the Titans loved him, they let him go with hopes to bring him back on the practice squad, before they could do so the Bucs offered him a contract, he saw how weak this team is and thought Caddy or CJ2K….where can I see the field faster…I’d say he made the right choice… Now let’s see what he can do !!!
