Hey, A Sack!

October 24th, 2010

Forget what a Bucs sack looked like? Joe almost did.

The Bucs didn’t do much to get off their crazy-ugly pace of notching just 13 sacks for the season today.

In fact, they’re still on pace for 13 for the season. (13.3, up from 12.8 before the game)

But the Bucs did get a sack today in the thrilling 18-17 comeback win against the Rams, and a huge one at that, from Stylez White in the Rams’ opening series.

White (finally) beat his man badly off the edge and crushed Sam Bradford who fumbled and the Bucs recovered at the Rams’ 6 yard line.

Sadly, the Bucs proceeded to get hit with two penalties and face a 3rd-and-34. But they got the field goal and a 3-0 lead. That offensive series made Joe want to puke, but it was still a huge play by Stylez, who is on pace for 5.3 sacks himself.

Well at least they had a good number of hurries in this game and everyone on the line seemed to get some penetration at some point in the game. Baby steps I guess. The big thing is that Morris finally abandoned the 3-3-5. What a bunch of god awful gimmickry that was. I mean they were even lining Barber up as a linebacker at times last Sunday? It made me wonder what was next. See if Gerald McCoy can play strong safety? If they stay with this simplified scheme for the rest of the season I firmly believe we will start to see the sacks come as guys get to focus on simply getting up field. With the rest of the NFC west on the schedule the d-line coming out party should be on the horizon.

To all the Rahemm haters and we should get a New D Cord. I am watching the Broncos game ( I love DirectTV) Mcfadden has 170 yards rushing. The score is 52-14 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Just sit back and shut up and enjoy the wins……

Stylez has been a pretty decent lineman for us over the past few years

Well this surely isn’t going to get Stylez to stop constantly running around the horn. Good play though none the less. DE is still going to be a huge priority next year and I would sure like to see an established player brought in rather than more rookies.

Too bad he took the rest of the first half off.
