Bucs Better After A Blowout

October 20th, 2010

The Bucs under Raheem Morris respond pretty well to a good beating.

That bodes well for Sunday’s game against the Rams.

Raheem’s Bucs have been clobbered six times in the 21 games since Morris took over. (Clobbered equals losing by more than two touchdowns.) Here’s the ugly/pretty evidence:

Loss to Giants 24-0
Loss to Eagles 33-14
Loss to Patriots 35-7
Loss to Saints, 38-7
Loss to Jets, 26-3
Loss to Steelers 38-13

In the games immediatly following those losses, the Bucs went 3-3 and the three losses were by a combined 13 points.

It’s safe to say that something good happens at One Buc Place after the Bucs get blown out. Perhaps whatever that is should go on every week.

Joe, You should read the article about McCoy in the Tribune. When speaking about his lack of production, he says that he has been “confused”. But he has spoken to his coaches and “now he is not confused” and will be better.
Poor guy. he went thru Offseason training, Training camp, Pre-season, and 5 games into the season confused. But now his coaching staff have cleared up his confusion with words. That speaks real well for his coaching staff! I don’t think that McCoy is stupid by any means. But that statement sure doesn’t speak well of his training, or his coaches.

Tampa2, I read the article. I wouldn’t read too much into it. I think it’s just McCoy attemting to make an excuse for the lack of production. I seriously doubt he is any less confused than he has been so far.

The one thing I get from reading multiple articles is that the coaches have told him to stop worrying about making mistakes and just go full speed at the QB. If he makes mistakes they want him doing it at 1000 mph. I think this is a good thing, cause RBs have been shooting through untouched anyways, so why not have him just charging in and being reckless?

  5. JDouble Says:

Instead of worrying about reading run or pass, and which gap to stay in presnap and basicly out thinking himself, he can just focus on the QB and getting off the line as quick as possible when the ball is snapped, and getting to the QB ASAP. I think for right now this is a much better approach. He’ll pick up on more things with experience, right now he just needs to be a QB killin force charging the QB with 110% every snap.

Joe wrote about that earlier in the week.

@Joe, Guess I should read your articles more often! Lol

Too early to draw final conclusions, but our top two DT picks in the greatest draft of all time, where second rounders were first rounders, have combined for ten tackles and no sacks and are presiding over the 31st run defense in the league.

    Not such a great start.

” in the greatest draft of all time”

Yeah it was so great that Dom traded a 5th to move up 3 spots to nab Benn. Then he drafted a punter with a high 6th rounder and didn’t even know that he didn’t have an NFL leg??? Go figure!

He traded away a future pick for Reggie Brpwn.

So that’s the 5th, the 6th tossed away, and then the future pick for Reggie Brown… NOT to mention this new KC DE who will be nothing more than a career back up.

    Sweeeeeet.

And every one says “wow, look at all the 7th rounders starting”…….. Yes, DEAD LAST in the NFL, we have no choice but to start 7th rounders.
