Some Love For Barrett Ruud

September 12th, 2010

The man in the middle for the Bucs, Barrett Ruud, sure didn’t have incredible success against the run, as the Bucs’ alllowed 100+ yards through three quarters and benefited from the Browns mysteriously abandoning its ground game in the fourth quarter.

However, Joe has to give it up for Ruud for making the big play, in Joe’s mind the biggest of the game.

The Browns were moving the ball early in the third quarter, and Ruud’s big stick right up the gut of the stripped Peyton Hillis and stopped the Browns then 68-yard drive. It looked absolutely beautiful on the TV replay. Just a first rate stick.

So many fans have been on Ruud to become a big-play guy. Well, he did it today, plus he had eight total tackles.

Fifteen more games like this one and Ruud is a Pro Bowler squeezing the Bucs for a massive payday.

Great job, Barrett.

I agree. The play was huge. Turned the tide of the game. We could have been down more without that forced fumble. That’s the way the whole D played in the second half. Forced turnovers when the Browns were driving, and 3 and outs the rest of the time. This is a good sign of things to come.

Yeah, I agee. Ruud had a very good day. If he didn’t cause that fumble, the Bucs would have probably lost today. Great job Barett!
I believe that he’ll continue to make big plays for the Bucs all year.

    Go Bucs!!!!!

Harison ran the ball 9 times for 52 yards with one run for 39 yards
8 of them for a total of 13 yards total
Hills 9 times for 41 yards with one run for 12 yards
8 of them for 29 yards total

That’s hardly being run all over. And after they fumbled they did attempt to rush they just got stuffed. They ran 7 times for a total of 3 net yards. As a matter of fact with 10:47 left in the fourth quarter during their drive they ran it three straight times for a three and out and a net total of 3 yards. The next time they got the ball back they had 6 minutes left and were down with so they had no choice but to pass.

Geno Hayes tackle for a loss when the Browns were backed up against the end zone was amazing. He shot out of nowhere to make that tackle. Put him down flat. There are some positives to take from this win.

Ruud played great today. Big reason? Our two young DT’s played twice as well as our DT’s did last year. Let Ruud do his job properly, which he Is very good at. Anyone concerned about how McCoy and Price will play together can get happy! They looked great together in the second half ! Bucs had a lot of pressure up the middle in the second half, it totally disrupted the browns. That’s why we dominated them on the second half, held them to one 1st down!! That is dominatating defense!!!!

It’s great to see a positive spin on Ruud. I love the guy.

Believe it or not Joe, I was watching Ruud closely for much of the game to see if he had made any adjustments from last year. I was impressed that he always seemed to be around the ball carrier and I didn’t see him having to try and run plays down from behind like we saw so much last year!
