Don’t Forget Tanard Jackson’s Tackle

September 19th, 2010

So many heroes for the Bucs today. But Joe wants to make sure nobody forgets the touchdown-saving tackle by Tanard Jackson on Carolina’s kick return early in the fourth quarter.

The Bucs were leading 20-7, and Mike Goodson fielded Connor Barth’s kick and ripped up the gut through some big holes before Jackson made an open-field, solo tackle on him at the Bucs’ 44 yard line.

If Jackson fails there, Goodson blows by Barth to the end zone.

Jackson didn’t have his best game last week against Cleveland, but he showed up very big in the second half today. It’s probably a very different game if he doesn’t make that tackle.

I hope this shuts up the haters for a week or two. It was a fun game to watch.

I actually thought the safety play was our weakest point today. There was 3 or 4 times where Carolina recievers dropped very catchable balls that would have been TDs. one was Barber getting beat, but the others looked like it was the safeties fault.

Next week will be very interesting. I think it is safe to say our offense will struggle mightily against that Steeler defense, but that Steeler offense is horrible. They had under 150 total yards today and no offensive TDs. I’m expecting a low scoring game that we could win if we have no turnovers on offense.

Hey haters! How dare the Bucs build through the draft! You gotta sign overpriced free agents to win football games!!

@ Jdouble I think your right. If our offense move the ball against the Steelers we will know we have something.

A lot of great tackles today, upfield, downfield, everywhere and guys flying to the ball. Ronde in the backfield. They beat Carolina up.

Pittsburgh will be lucky to score at all on this Defense. I say the Bucs pitch a shutout against Pittsburgh. I know Freeman can get to field goal range for sure against the Steelers, but I don’t think the Steelers will score. Zero, Zip, Zilch, Nada.

Good win, but I think Freeman will struggle against Lebeau and Polamalu…

Steelers offense has really struggled, but their defense has been incredible (as usual). I think they forced something like 7 turnovers today. If we can win the turnover battle, we can win the game. Freeman has made great decisions so far this year. If he continues to not force the ball, throw it away or take off and run, that will help. The D-line will have to put pressure on whoever is at QB for the Steelers (Leftwich?/Batch?). They must stop Mendenhall. I don’t think it’s out of the question to win, but it will be a MUCH more difficult task than we’ve faced so far, simply due to the Steelers D.
