Mike Williams About To Break Out

August 23rd, 2010

Coffee-slurping, Red Sox-loving, L.L. Bean suitcase-toting Peter King was at Bucs training camp earlier this month. Despite his abbreviated stay, being whisked off to Manhattan for an NBC Sports production meeting, the Sports Illustrated columnist came away with one stark discovery:

Mike Williams will have a breakout year.

The Bucs’ rookie wide receiver, King learned from querying various Bucs players, coaches and front office types, is beloved by virtually all. As a result, King has Williams high on his radar as King documented in his must-read Monday Morning Quarterback column.

The staff loves Mike Williams. The quarterback loves Mike Williams. Mike Williams loves Mike Williams. He’s going to have a chance to be the biggest offensive force on this team.

Of course, King writes this in relation to fantasy football, a practice Joe shies away from. As Joe has written many times before, Joe’s concept of fantasy is a bit loftier than pretend football.

Still haven’t seen the game, but saw highlights and that one catch he made was beautiful. I am so happy we hit this pick. Imagine how depressing things would be if he wasn’t this good?

All you guys who watch the games live on the net, which site do you use? I know of a few like atdhe.net, channelsurfing.net. but the feeds are usually pretty crappy.

  2. Gary Says:

On the play Freeman got injured, I blame our O-line. The guy had the chiefs D line all over him. We couldnt even get him enough space to follow through. I hope that wasn’t a consistent issue, or we are screwed.

I’ll see the game today on NFLN, but some of the lowlights didnt look good at all.

  3. Joe Says:

    CAUTION:

Joe does not want to get busted by NFL lawyers for advocating pirated video feeds of games.

Please refrain from posting URLs of these sites. Just a kindly request from Joe.

  4. Cannon Says:

Williams made some touch catches against KC, and continues to impress. I just hope it translates to the regular season.

  5. Sebring Smitty Says:

Sorry man, Joe asked nicely too many times not to post the URLs of pirate video feeds. Joe doesn’t want to tangle with NFL lawyers.

I like what I see so far from Mike Williams and in spite of sharing the same number, he may very well be more productive than Keyshawn was. If Straughter can be similiar to Keenan Mccardell and Benn similiar to Ike Hilliard along with what we know Winslow Jr. can do then maybe we will have a formidable receiving corps. I know that is looking at the glass half full but now is the time to be optimistic before the possible err probable losses start stacking up.
