Trueblood No Dunderhead; Saves Bucs

June 14th, 2010

Thanks to Jeremy Trueblood, the Bucs can lay back and take it easy.

The Tampa Bay area is experiencing a heat wave.

In June.

In the summer (for Florida that is).

Hot in Florida in the summer? Who knew?

It sure as hell beats that Midwestern-like winter we just experienced a few months ago. It was almost enough for Joe to start looking for a cheap winter home in Cuba. Joe did not move to Florida to wear winter coats in March.

So as the Bucs toiled in the heat this morning, they got a break thanks in part to Raheem the Dream.

More importantly, they got a break thanks to the hands of Jeremy Trueblood.

Seems as though, per the Bucs official Twitter feed (multimedia mastermind Scott Smith perhaps?), Raheem the Dream, taking a page from Bill Belicheat, put out a challenge to the non-skill position players: Catch a punt on the fly on the first kick, and no OTAs Tuesday.

Trueblood immediately volunteered. His teammates gasped and expected to suit up tomorrow.

But Trueblood came through for his teammates. After bobbling the punt — which forced groans from his teammates — Trueblood was able to haul in the punt without letting the ball touch the ground.

@TBBuccaneers Coach was true to his word! Trueblood caught the punt and now there is no OTA tomorrow. His teammates were worried when he bobbled it.

Bucs are off Tuesday. See ya’ Wednesday!

Joe has a hunch the Bucs will be generously helping out the local economy tonight at various local watering holes, clubs and restaurants.

Words, words, words. Hey Bucs and Trueblood, how about stop telling how good both of you are and start winning games. Jeremy, stay in position until the snap.

  2. BigMacAttack Says:

Good thing they didn’t call JimBuc to field the punt. His cape may have interfered with the catch. I love JimBuc, he is so great. I can’t wait for his next post.

    BigMac,

What the hell are you talking about? God doesn’t wear a cape!

  4. Not a Rocket Surgeon Says:

    Get the cat!!!!

Good luck with your QB and Dline situation this year.

  5. Jimmy Says:

How about we just dont do any more OTAs,, heck, lets just skip training camp and maybe even preseason….. not like we need to improve or anything..

  6. Fredrick Says:

3-13, 28th ranked offense, 27th ranked defense, young players needing all the reps they can get, massive drop in season ticket base, talent level and coaching staff rated bottom two in NFL, black outs coming, sure coach, by all means, take it easy on the boys and yourself too. It’s the early 1990’s all over again; the brilliant decisions just keep coming!

OO cmon guys…the day off is sooo well needed… i mean my god its just 1 day into the week and were already taking a day off??! I gotta admit I like the new techniques that The Dream is bringing to the team….I look around and I see The saints are having OTA’s all week , as well as the Falcons and wow the Panthers too….we are starting a trend that is sure to catch on….1 on 1 off’s is the only way to fully learn the playbook and come together as a team…GREAT JOB!! Cant what till September and see how well things go….

  8. Capt.Tim Says:

Wow, 4 or 5 different “expert” opionions on the Bucs taking a day off!!
I didn’t realize that working in the fast food industry prepared these guys so well for coaching at the Pro level !!

  9. Gary Says:

    Nice Capt!

Maybe he should have saved this for a later date like camp, but I am not going to question his decision when it seemed to pick the whole team up including Dunderhead. We will have to wait and see if all these Rah moves will pay off.

  10. Gary Says:

And the point of other teams having OTAs right now doesn’t show us up because didnt we schedule all our OTAs towards the end? The articles mentioned the heat, has it been hot down there people?

  11. Joe Says:

    Gary:

It’s Florida in the summer. What, it’s supposed to be 75?

If people are whining about the heat — and after this miserably cold past winter if anyone whines about the heat they need to pack the U-Haul, shut up and head to Alaska — they need a quick geography lesson.

Middle of June in Florida is supposed to be hot. Grab a beer and embrace it! Sure as hell beats scraping windshields in the morning.

  12. Gary Says:

Hey I live in MD and it has been hot here, no idea how good/bad its been in FL.

  13. Fredrick Says:

Thanks, once again “Captain Tim” for your salient observations.

Anyway, no fries today Tim, but you will throw in some mustard and extra napkins? Driving around.

  14. Capt.Tim Says:

It’s just a day off! Read a quote today from Ronde Barber. He said this team has installed more schemes, and is futher along, than any other year he’s been here. Lots a teams take days off during voluntary workouts.
Every move the Bucs make is not a sign of the apocalpse 🙂

  15. Capt.Tim Says:

    Fredrick the scheduler,
Swing by my window anytime , buddy!
I got a SPECIAL hamburger for you, complete with secret sauce!
Realize you gotta keep your stength up to Coach those Rascally Bucs properly;)
