Aqib Talib On The Cusp Of Greatness

May 20th, 2010

It’s not even the end of May and eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune is so giddy over the (OTA) play of Bucs cornerback Aqib Talib, that Kaufman is ready to cast his Pro Bowl ballot.

Posting on TBO.com’s Bucs Twitter feed, Kaufman waxed poetic about Talib’s skills, stopping just short of calling Talib the best cornerback in the NFL.

The more I watch Aqib Talib, the more convinced I become that he has the skills necessary to rival Darrelle Revis as the NFL’s top CB.

If Talib truly is on the threshold of greatness, Talib certainly couldn’t have been frustrated by Mark Dominik drafting a pair of defensive linemen to begin last month’s draft.

If the Bucs can only get some decent push up front, it has to help Talib and Ronde Barber.

I don’t think there is single person who doesn’t believe that Talib has the talent, I just hope that his days of getting into trouble away from the field are past him.

Here is hoping that another year has made him grow up that much more.

Id have to agree with Kaufman, Talib has all the tools.

Perhaps Allen might end up with one draft feather in his cap?

I’m all for the positivity and do agree that Talib has what it takes to be a stud but let’s stop with the waxing of poetry Kuafman. Revis absolutely shut down the top WRs last year and literally gave flawless performances every week. Talib doesn’t deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Revis. I hope that I can call him the best CB in the league one day but today is not that day. He has to earn all our praises on and off the field first. Go Bucs!

Talib is good but young I think we as Bucs fans need not get carried away Remeber the Bills game To burned him on more than 1 occasion TO even droppen one, Moss burned him (santana that is) but I think playing Cover 2 will help him I think him and TJ Tanard Jackson can be specila but they both need to do on and off the field before they get the label great

I think Dominik has done far better than Allen at drafting, but Allen did o.k. Once you look past the high profile misses like Dexter Jackson and Gaines Adams and the reaches like Alex Smith in the 3rd round, he drafted quality starters like Ruud, Davin Joseph, Talib, T-Jack, and hopefully Geno Hayes. Trueblood is starting. Arron Sears would have been a quality guy had he not gone off the deep end. Zuttah is a solid back-up. Really, Allen could be credited with rebuilding the perpetually awful O-Line.

What team does Marty scout or work for. What exactly are his qualifications or background which would allow him to judge NFL quality talent.

  7. Dave Says:

He can be great, especially with TJax over top. If Sabby or Jones can play half way decent this year and Lewis is an upgrade at nickel, he should do even better.

Also if the run defense improves and they put teams in obvious pass downs.

Like JOE said, just hope he keeps his nose clean
