Draft Countdown: 27 Days

March 26th, 2010

Raheem The Dream thinks he has pressure?

The New York Jets are moving into a new stadium with scores of screw-loose fans taking out second mortgages just to buy seat licenses and tickets.

Why the stress might drive second-year coach Rex Ryan back to gorging himself, if the team doesn’t win and score big in the NFL Draft.

Today, as part of the subscription NFL Draft coverage on JoeBucsFan.com, NFL Draft guru Justin Pawlowski, of WDAE-AM 620, breaks down all things Jets in this installment of the Draft Countdown, a daily look at the needs and strategies of every NFL team heading into the draft. … Those who subscribe today, March 26, will be mailed a $10 or $25 gift certificate to Mugs Grill & Bar in Clearwater, home of truly awesome food. What a deal!

Of course, Pawlowski keeps his eye focused on how the Jets’ moves might affect the Bucs.

Also, keep your eye out for Pawlowski’s linebackers breakdown, yet another draft-lovers dream. Enjoy. {+++}

I don’t usually do this, but i am making a request for a story. If the bucs are putting all their eggs in the draft basket. After they have declare that their bad drafting has been ” cancerous “. What have they done differently from last year to this year besides “watch more video tape”. Have we hired more scouts? how many scouts do we have on the pay-roll compared to other NFL teams. How does our front office stack up against other NFL teams personal. Pay wise and How many people do they have dedicated to scouting personal? If the glazers have committed to building thru the draft, did they commit the resources to be successful?

Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune addressed this in one of Joe’s JoeBucsFan radio network broadcasts. The philosophy of those same guys has changed now that Bruce Almighty and Chucky are gone.

Sift through the archives and you can listen for yourself. Joe posed this very question to Cummings.

    Joe here,

To give you the nutshell version. No, the Bucs haven’t changed anything too tangible other than their approach under Dominik, and the intensity of the effort. Only way to judge is afterwards, unfortunately. And it’s been reported that the scouting staff is all out of contracts after 2010. Doesn’t say much for their quality — or the Glazers’ wallet.

Thanks for the rapid response Joe.
It doesn’t sound promising at all. But this year i will do my part as well. I will perform a draft voodoo sacrifice. I will build a fire, dance around it for 10 minutes. Then kill a caybrew for each draft pick. This sounds like a better plan for the draft.

    Sounds like an outstanding gameplan!

Hey Joe, the sound file isn’t working (anymore?).

    Joe here,

    Working fine. Sander. Try again.

    It’s working now, thanks.

I hope Rex Ryan’s lap band surgery went well…
