Second Autopsy Ordered On Gaines Adams

January 19th, 2010

In an unusual move, a second autopsy will be performed on former Bucs first round pick Gaines Adams, who died Sunday morning. The cause of death is believed to be a cardiac arrest from an enlarged heart.

Reported by Anwar Richardson of the Tampa Tribune via Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune, the second autopsy was to be performed today. The purpose of the second autopsy is unclear but McClure suggests this may point to something unforeseen.

The family could be searching for further confirmation that an enlarged heart was indeed the cause of Adams’ death and that no other factors were involved. No one knew Adams had a heart condition.

Joe just hopes this isn’t the result of a distraught family needlessly searching in vane for a more sinister reason for the passing of someone thought to be in perfect physical condition.
