Raheem Already Given Keys For 2010?

January 3rd, 2010

A little known Texas sports radio guy, Warren McCarty out of Amarillo, tweeted Friday that Bill Cowher won’t coach the Bucs in 2010 and Greg Olson has received a two-year contract extension.

Minutes ago, Mike Florio, the creator, curator and overall guru of ProFootballTalk.com, vouched for McCarty and said his information is usually spot on. Florio says McCarty informs him Raheem The Dream and his staff have been told they will return in 2010.

Joe is skeptical. McCarty calls himself a Bucs fan on his Twitter page.

However, Mark Dominik was in nearby El Paso for the Sun Bowl the other day scouting Oklahoma’s Gerald McCoy.

Perhaps Dominik was doing some talking around the press box buffet?

As always, Joe will keep you updated on this developing story.

Scooped by an Amarillo, Tex., radio guy. Now that’s funny, I don’t care what you say, Joe.

  2. Louie Says:

I wouldn’t doubt it. The cheap a$$ Glazers at their finest.

  3. CyberDilemma Says:

This makes no sense. I thought Olson already got a contract extension earlier in the season when he was promoted to OC.

  4. Jerry Says:

Wow. What a joke if this is true. I wonder how many people are going to be stupid enough to buy season tickets next year. Because it’s obvious the Glazers are just milking this thing right now. Maybe Sileo isn’t so wrong afterall.

  5. Jolly Rodger Says:

I have no doubt Raheem will be back for another year. The Glazers will not pay for another big name coach while Gruden remains on the payroll.

Bring in Marty to bring some toughness and disipline here. Demote numbnuts to DC if Cower told them NO.

  7. justin Says:

if this is true i will be dropping my season tickets as soon as i can the cheap glazers have taken enough of my money cheapest head coach and gm in football still 30 million under the cap and have spent the least amount of money in the nfl for the past 7 years im done with u glazers

I agree with Joe on this one. Perhaps this guy overheard or was told this horrific statement by Dominik. Maybe this is the perception among the current staff that they will be retained next year. Maybe in the absence of a vote of confindence from the ownership, in their minds, no news is good news.

If it is true, why leak it out way far away in the hinterlands of El Paso when it could have been done locally all month/week long?

I think Rah may still need to pull out a Win today to keep his job. I would like to see someone else brought in as an OC to help him. The reason I think Rah should now get his 2’nd year, 2’nd chance is because he has so improved the defense and he has that side of the ball covered, especially after a couple good draft picks. Olson, on the other hand should remain a QB coach, and a new top notch OC should be hired immediately after the game today. I think this is the best path to take right now without hiring another old, burnt out, over the hill, head coach for too much money. I would rather see them hire another young Coach that is an OC or DC and hasn’t been a HC yet, but I don’t think that will happen either. I guess I really don’t give a $#!t at this point in time, who stays and who goes. Smoke em if you got em.

  10. Saidon Says:

that was more then likely the 2 year extension olsen got months ago so i think this guys is out of the loop and florio spreading some unverified reports

  11. zech Says:

Oh man if this is true we will have another losen season and I guess the glazers like being imbarrased.

  12. LL Says:

    Bye Bye Season Tickets

  13. zech Says:

I don’t think this guys info is right I think this guy must of ben hittin the pipe. The glazers must not mind losen money hand over fists I mean after dominic and rah they will be bankrupt

  14. Tye Says:

WoW! Their goes all chances for any hope of going from worst to 1st. Hello bottom of the NFC south for the next 2+ years.
I bet the teams on the Bucs schedule next season are thrilled of this news!!!

  15. Rob Keesler Says:

I will renew but sell the tickets by game. I am not going to watch this clown another game.

  16. JDouble Says:

    Go Raheem! Go Bucs!

  17. Sgt Mike Says:

Sounds about right. One of the guys on the hot seat leaks a story to a radio guy over 2000 miles away. Don’t bet on it. The only thing you can bet on is that the Glazers are CHEAP! They will do whatever it takes to not spend anymore money to get the most return. Very much like Hugh Culverhouse. The only thing missing here is the allegations of racism by the ownership. Welcome to your next 15 years of bottom dwelling as a Bucs fan. To bad, I enjoyed the coming of age with Dungy then Gruden putting it over the top. Just shows that Gruden wasn’t half as bad as everyone thought. He kept us competitive while the Glazers strangled the salary cap.

If the glazers don’t fire raheem and they start 0-6 cuz there’s direction and they fire raheem and dominic who would be outon the market for coaches
