John Clayton Hints Jim Bates Resigned

November 25th, 2009

“The Professor,” John Clayton of BSPN, claims defrocked defensive coordinator Jim Bates was offered the chance to remain in his former title. … Clayton never finished the sentence.

This leads a reasoned Bucs fan like Joe to assume that Raheem the Dream told Bates he was changing the defense back to the Tampa-2, but was assigning Bates to handle those duties and Bates said, in effect, “no.”

No wonder Bates goes out to lunch during practice.

Watch for yourself.

Also, Clayton said by defrocking Bates, Raheem the Dream has exposed himself. If the Bucs defense doesn’t improve the rest of the season, Clayton feels Raheem the Dream has now set himself up to be fired. Clayton added, “Bill Cowher, you may get a phone call.”

Uhh, no, that’s not what he said. He said Bates “was offered the chance to stay around and do more of the work”.

    Nothing about remaining DC.

    Matt:

I listened to that again (for the fourth time). Sounds to me like Morris offered Bates to, again, remain as defensive coordinator. “… do more of the work” to me doesn’t mean doing less work than what Bates was doing.

It’s very cryptic. Joe wishes Clayton would have explained a bit more.

Also throw in the fact Bates hasn’t been around One Buc Palace for practices… just seems like Bates threw in the towel, possibly fed up/frustrated with Raheem the Dream.

Joe doesn’t know. It’s just wierd.

Damn! I wish I could talk to Bates myself. How do we know that he was nothing more than a puppet all season long. I know Bates is old but I don’t think he sucks as bad as this. He is just a fall guy look for the defense to continue to suck.

Raheem and the Glazers are clowns. Plain and Simple

I actually wouldn’t mind if the D continued to play poorly if it meant the end of the line for Morris. There is no doubt that Gruden needed to go. But Morris has made a mockery of this franchise. My family has had tickets since the beginning. I am seriously thinking about not renewing if this clown is still in charge.

I totally agree. Not since Leeman have I seen it this bad and it was BETTER with him!
