Nugent Wins Job; Bryant Cut

Former Jets kicker Mike Nugent has won the Bucs kicking job.

Former Jets kicker Mike Nugent has won the Bucs kicking job.

Injured and angry kicker Matt Bryant was cut today, reports TBO.com.

No surprise. Uhh, he couldn’t kick through most of the preseason.

That’s a good way to lose a job, especially when your team brought in a capable professional to compete with you. Mike Nugent, a former second round pick in 2005, clearly has won the job.

Bucs fans will forever remember Bryant and his dedication to the team during his horrible personal tragedy last year.

Too bad he never got to fight it out — for real – with Nugent.

Joe is quite sure Bryant will find a job when he’s healthy.

It is probably for the best that they went with the younger more durable guy for surely he will get a LOT of attempts this year. Many around 40+ yard attempts is likely!

Thanks Matt. You’re a good man. The comments were understandable and you have given a lot to the Bucs, especially the 62 yd game winner that won’t be forgotten.

    Morris will regret this move…..

I agree with David, except we’re all going to regret this move. Good luck Matt, thanks for all you’ve done for us the last four years!
