Antonio Bryant Stays Home

September 19th, 2009

When the Bucs traveled to Buffalo Saturday, there was a member of the team who wasn’t on the plane.

Antonio Bryant.

The Bucs’ top receiver is suffering from a sore knee, the same knee he had surgery on in training camp. The knee is bothering him so much that he didn’t make the trip to Buffalo, so reports eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune.

Rookie Sammie Stroughter, Maurice Stovall and Brian Clark are expected to receive more extensive playing time in Bryant’s place opposite Michael Clayton.

This is not good news for Joe. If the Bucs are to beat the Bills, with the Bucs’ secondary suspect, the Bucs will need every offensive player they have. This is bad news in every respect.

I guess Bryant CAN feed him family for 9.7 million – cuz missing 1.5 games (so far) will likely result in much lower numbers than those he posted in 2008.

I guessnow we know why Dominik didn’t offer him a long-term deal. This is the time for Sammy to step it up – as well as Brian Clark. For stovall – this is YOUR last chance buddy.

I’m glad I dropped him from my fantasy league last week.
