Ruud More Concerned With Bucs Than Wallet

August 6th, 2009

One of the main questions concerning the Bucs this summer, aside from who would be quarterback — and question yet unanswered — is Barrett Ruud potentially holding out of training camp.

He blew off OTAs looking for more cash. But per Tom Balog of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, the reason why Ruud showed up on time for Bucs training camp was that he was putting team before self.

“It (leadership) is part of it. Maybe not so much the leader part of it but the fact of making the defense successful helps me and helps everybody,” Ruud said. “When you win and you are a successful team, then everybody involved will benefit. Right now it (the contract) is not the biggest thing for me.”

Joe’s grateful to hear this and thinks Ruud made the smart decision. Joe only wishes Ruud would be visible in December before he’s invisible in practices looking for  a payday. Ruud has a habit of disappearing in the latter weeks of the season.

If Ruud can make his presense felt in November and December, he might feel his wallet growing as a result.
