Raheem The Dream A Throwback

August 3rd, 2009

This Raheem The Dream must be reading too many Bear Bryant books, not that that’s a bad thing mind you.

Raheem The Dream has bragged about his players must embrace the Tampa Bay area heat during practices, so the team can use that to its advantage.

Why, Raheem The Dream wants players to get used to the heat so much, he’s done away with the cool-down tents during training camp where players could get a quick reprieve, so writes Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune.

“We fired the cool-down tent,” Bucs coach Raheem Morris said. “I mean, there’s no cool down tent on Sundays.

“And when we go into our locker room it’s not really all that cool. It’s pretty tight in there and we want to create that type of environment here.”

This is like a throwback to Bryant, who forbade his players to have water breaks during practice. Shoot, the first NFL training camp Joe covered with Mean Gene Stallings, who was a Bryant disciple, Stallings often groused how there were too many water breaks.

Raheem The Dream really is trying to toughen these guys up. Pretty soon The Dream will be wearing one of those houndstooth hats. Heck, he already stated he wanted to wear a golf hat like Bryant’s good friend, the late Bucs coach John McKay.
