Jermaine Phillips Still Listed As Safety

August 18th, 2009

Scott Smith in his daily Buccaneers Insider has a feature on strong safety weakside linebacker Jermaine Phillips, who, Smith notes, is still listed on the Bucs roster as a safety.

Smith claims Phillips said he didn’t get much action because the Titans didn’t run his way and that should change this weekend against Jacksonville.

Smith also features quarterback Josh Johnson and how he played so well and Smith also discusses the punting situation.

Also from the good people of Buccaneers.com is the daily press conference from Raheem the Dream.

  1. Tom Edrington Says:

Joe: doesn’t the NFL requires linebackers to have numbers in the 50s?

I can’t recall but seems like Jermaine Phillips would have to change numbers before the start of the season.

    Tom:

Joe believes you are correct. For example, you didn’t see LaVar Arrington wear his Penn State number (No. 11) with the Redskins.

Thanks to Tanard, he won’t have to worry about that now, will he?
