Son Of Bob May Retire

June 17th, 2009

Given the fact the Bucs won’t release him and that he apparently has zero desire to play for the Bucs, Son of Bob is mulling retirement, so reports Mike Florio, the creator, curator and overall guru of ProFootballTalk.com.

With veteran quarterback Brian Griese not attending a mandatory minicamp in Tampa and with the Buccaneers seemingly content to keep him on ice unless and until one or more of their 24 other quarterbacks get hurt, we’re hearing that Griese is considering retirement.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Griese has begun the process of seriously exploring post-football career opportunities.

Joe, courtesy of the Ann Arbor News, quoted Griese talking as if life after football was imminent earlier this month. Florio’s latest buzz on Griese’s retirement basically confirms one solid tenant Joe has had for years on Son of Bob: he sucks so bad nobody short of a UFL team wants him.

The only person insane enough to covet Son of Bob is working for BSPN.

UPDATE: When reached via e-mail to respond to this allegation, Son of Bob’s agent, Ralph Cindrich wrote, “I have no comment as I have no knowledge of that. It was never discussed with me.”

Cool – then Tampa can be known as the QB burial grounds

    First it was Jake Plummer

    Now Griese…

Hey there’s always Brett running around…..

  2. Wolverine Walt Says:

why all the hate for Griese?

“son of Bob”? what a stupid nickname … the guy never used his old man’s name as a crutch
he walked on at Michigan and won a MNC and has been in the NFL for 10+ years

you have some good stuff on here but that’s just IGNORANT

  3. Rob Says:

Joe, we can only hope that this ends up being true. Though it’d be great if he ended up throwing interceptions elsewhere in the NFC.

By the way, love the site. Can’t wait for the season to start!
