Chucky Doing Some Serious Networking

June 8th, 2009

Gotta give credit to Chucky for doing some networking since he got canned (not counting NFL Network[ing] or with BSPN). Seems as though Chucky’s going to the Persian Gulf to visit U.S. troops with some heavy hitters, so reports Peter King of SI.com in his weekly must-read “Monday Morning Quarterback.”

Later this month, three Super Bowl-winning coaches from this decade — Tom Coughlin (Giants), Bill Cowher (Steelers) and Jon Gruden (Bucs) — will join one AFC Championship coach, Tennessee’s Jeff Fisher, and the AFC Championship runnerup last year, Baltimore’s John Harbaugh, in traveling to the Persian Gulf to visit our troops.

Imagine the chatter that Chucky will have with those guys? Chucky will pepper all of those coaches about how to develop a quarterback. Then Chucky will ask Cowher about how to throw downfield and score touchdowns. Chucky will then ask Coughlin how to get the most out of players. Fisher will be quizzed about how not to use injuries as a crutch.

Something tells Joe that none of those coaches will ask Chucky about coaching youth flag football.

I think it’s great that they are going over to see the troops. I hope they can reach out to the soldiers who do the heavy work at the smaller FOB’s. The two times I was there the performers/celebs would not come to the smaller bases. The big bases like BIAP and Anaconda have great soldiers but the ones that haul the load are at the smaller FOB’s and COP’s. We had some Hawaiian hula dancers come to Iskandiriyah in 2005 and as usual I was on patrol and missed it. We enjoy the efforts of the many that give there time. Thanks
