So What Was Wrong With Ike Hilliard?

May 31st, 2009

This nonsense the Bucs have been putting out lately, specifically Raheem the Dream, of the desire to acquire NRA spokesman Plexiglass Burress and/or unwanted has-been (but future Hall of Famer) Marvin Harrison has had Joe scratching his head all weekend.

Then again, maybe it’s just a flare up of his eczema?

When the new Bucs regime back in February purged so many veterans, clearly the klieg lights were shone on Derrick Brooks. But one of the veterans let go that black day was Ike Hilliard.

This guy was clutch. You didn’t read about him in the papers (unless it was football-related). All he did was come off the bench and grab key third down catches. Rarely did anyone even hear him speak. All he did was play football, and play it damn well.

Last year Hilliard averaged nine yards a catch. Not too shabby. Nor was he hurt.

So Joe can’t figure out why Raheem the Dream wants Burress, who no one knows when he will next play, or Harrison who is clearly well over the hill?

The Bucs already had a solid good-guy veteran receiver who, to Joe’s knowledge, never had a tangle with the law over a firearm.

Joe you ALREADY know the answer to that – Burris & Harrison are gun toting, NRA members who aren’t afraid to shoot someone (even if it is himself).

So the next time that Talib acts up again and raises his helmet against his teammate Raheem calls over his WR and has them shoot Talib. Internal matter.

This puts a different twist on “bite the bullet”…

    LOL

“We Like IKE!” he is the modern day Karl”The Truth”Williams, Joe JereViscious, Robb Thomas, etc. The Bucs have always seemed to come up with a low profile guy who makes catches whenever required in a pinch at will but never made it as the #1,#2or even #3 guy. Who is our clutch guy now?

I thought we where going for a YOUTH movement??? Hey I like IKE and he was Mr. Clutch Catch but.. we need to move forward with YOUTHFUL players.
Lets give Stroughter, Campbell, Jackson(both of them), Carter, Clark, Hankton, Filani each a shot to catch a few balls. Even off the bench we need YOUTH. Just the way i see it our here in Arizona.

Joe, this is a great site thanks for all your hard work wish i was close to Tampa id buy you a few brews..

Let me see here, Joe, on top of all your annoying qualities, you must be a Gator fan as well. Maybe we should fill our whole team with 30 something, past their prime, former Gator receivers. Maybe we can bring back Reidell Anthony or Quez Green. Bang up writing once again, Joe.
