Gameday Tampa Bay Week 12

November 23rd, 2008

Bucs (7-3) at Lions (0-10)
Week 12
Kickoff:
1 p.m.
TV: FOX, WTVT Channel 13, DirecTV/NFL Sunday Ticket Channel 711.
Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network (in Tampa WFUS-FM, 103.5 and WDAE-AM, 620); Sirius Channel 117.
Weather: Per AccuWeather.com, of course the Bucs will be playing in a soulless dome. But for any Bucs fans who might be flying up this morning or may already be there, outside the dome it will be in the high 30s under partly cloudy skies with a brisk wind.
Odds: Per Bodog.com, Bucs -8.
Outlook: On paper the Bucs should blow this game out. The Lions offense is a joke and the Bucs defense is one of the strongest in the NFL.

Games aren’t played on paper.

The Lions aren’t going to lose every game of the season. Just won’t happen. And the Bucs struggle on the road, doesn’t matter if the Bucs play a halfway decent team (Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans) or a rotten team (Kansas City), the Bucs just don’t play well away from the CITS.

The best way to beat the Lions is a good ground game. But with the Bucs all banged up at running back it’s a good bet Chucky will want to pass. And we all know what that means: dink-and-dunk garbage. And if Carmella’s husband has an off day, this will be a nailbiter.

Again, the Bucs should blow the Kitties out of Ford Field. The game should be so lopsided Detroit fans will begin lobbying Congress for a bailout. But Joe has a very funny feeling about this game.
