Gruden Press Conference

September 15th, 2008
Joe listened in live to Jon Gruden’s Monday morning press conference. Here are highlights:
On Griese starting: I don’t anticipate any changes.
On Garcia: Role will be defined on a weekly basis.

Are you concerned a Pro Bowl quarterback being pushed down to third on the depth chart?: You’re more concerned than I am. I answer the same questions every day. … I’m concerned with beating the Chicago Bears.

On reports of Garcia being on the trading block: Erroneous.

On the possibility of Galloway missing the Bears game with a foot injury: We’ve cross-trained almost all receivers for {Galloway’s position]. … Galloway is being evaluated by our doctors at this time.

Coach Gruden said Jeremy Zuttah is going to be a great player

On tight end Jerramy Stevens returning to the roster next week after a two-game suspension: It’s going to be a tough decision [on who to take off the roster]. Gruden later may have implied that Garcia could be cut. But Joe is certain Gruden was referring to tight ends Ben Troupe or John Gilmore, who caught a toucdown pass on Sunday.

On the return of injured offensive lineman Davin Joseph: He’s walking around well. He’ll be questionable or doubtful for Sunday. … That said Jeremy Zuttah is going to be a great player.
