But if you have the components, now you’re kidding yourself if you don’t have the components, then you’re just wishing, but I know we have the components. I have my hopes up….we went into NY last year and there was no way we should have even been competiive…and we should have won the game…but our pass defense was like Syrian children with Sarin gas falling all around them…..helpless!!!

I don’t think Schiano needs the hot seat, its Sullivan. His scheme is crap and offense is racking up the penalties. Defense is looking stout and seems to have good chemistry. Schiano is supposed to be a defensive minded HC, so I wouldn’t blame the offensive woe’s on him unless he doesn’t do something to Sullivan.

Paul…after watching the Eagles O and Chiefs O last night. “Sullivan his scheme is crap and offense is racking up the penalties.” Definitely rings true. The scheme does look like crap. This is supposed to be a “complex offense” to learn? Are you kidding me Sully? It still looks like vanilla to me.

we dont really know whose gameplan and scheme it is. but it sucks. and if we continue to lose because of the offensive gameplan & scheme, the Glazer Bros. are smart enough to know whose really calling the shots. Sully, or Schiano. and thats who theyll fire. not Freeman.
look at Alex Smith. he is finally a success with an offensive coach, and SF fans wanted to burn him alive.

So Sheridan says that “as we go forward…..”, he’ll start using the Revis Island Defense. About damn time! At least we’ll be be bringing a new look that Belicheck won’t have tape of. At least not with our personell. He might have an idea since he knows Revis Island too well.

Schiano has some NFLexperience…..there are many coaches in the NFL that started as College coaches…..most don’t come directly from the college ranks to the NFL HC level first….they coach NFL positions or are coordinators.
I think it is unfair to paint Schiano as a “college coach”. Everyone has to start somewhere. Winning makes the big difference…not where you came from…how about Pete Carroll?

Excuse me…but it is the defense that has been “racking up the penalties”…at least most of them.
Sully’s offense is fine. It just needs more adjustments. With Nicks back Freeman will have more time. Just wait till you see the difference, then you’ll know how badly the oline has really been lately.

WTF is wrong with you people. If you can’t see that this coach has this team on the verge of something special then youre an idiot. You forget how god awful this team and defense was when he took over. We got blown out by the jaguars who probably had the worst QB playing that I have ever seen play in the NFL. Then he comes in and gets a win against the panthers first game and they blew the bucs out too. They started hot then slumped as he is purging the team of bums and molding it. There is gonna be some growing pains sure. But if you can’t see they are on the verge then you were probably the same people who didn’t see it happenig in 96-97 seasons either. I told everybody in 96 you watch the bus…. Same shit you dummies are saying today. Its gonna happen and when it does it will stay that way for a nice long run. Quit believing all the bullshit. This team is playing hard as Fudge. If you can’t see that you’re blind and clueless. If the players really hated their coach or didn’t respect him you think they would be flying around swarming to the ball like that laying people out? Nope. And if you don’t believe me watch the tape from the 2011 season… That’s what happens without discipline when players don’t respect their coach.
They are establishing themselves and will get better and better. The penalties will melt away as they grow within the system. They are playing extremely physical. I love it. I watched this team get run over in 2011 with players quiting. I sure as hell don’t see that anymore. Schiano is right it is gonna turn then all you dumb dumb can run down to buccaneers heaven and get your flags for your car.

I know good and well I’ve heard Schiano say that you should play to win, and that you shouldn’t play not to lose.
Yet, the last two games we’ve blown leads in the last 30 seconds because we played not to lose.
You can’t control the game in the NFL like you can in college. In college, there’s only a few really good players on the field at any given time. In the NFL, even the scrubs were studs somewhere once, and they are all capable of making big plays.
Schiano has to learn to coach balls-to-the-wall, stick to his guns, and step on the opponent’s neck. Don’t try to protect a lead. Always try to extend a lead, even if it seems risky. No risk, no reward.

Excuse me…but it is the defense that has been “racking up the penalties”…at least most of them.
I know they were game killers because our offense can’t score points, but the offensive penalties were things like, bad formation, movement, taking play clock to 1 every snap. The defensive penalties were racked up from playing hard. Offense didn’t get any “playing too hard” penalties. I don’t look at them as being as big of a sign of bad things as the offensive penalties are.

according to http://www.nflpenalties.com/ (just found it, don’t know it’s credibility) offense has 10 defense has 13. Bunch of cool penalty stats for Bucs, Defense tied with Seattle for most personal foul.

We lost that first game because of a stupid defensive penalty. To be fair, it could be said an offensive penalty cost us the second game..negating Jackson’s TD.

Never mind paul, I found it.
Offensive pentalties 10 for 55 yards
Defensive penalties 13 for 165 yards
That shows you why we lost those games right there. The defense can play lights out but it doesn’t matter if they hand opponents the yards anyway. What’s it matter if the other team gains the yards thru drives or penalties? The yardage is still there and it is high.
Heck…that’s an average of 82 yards per game for hte defense in penalties. That’s handing the opposing teams 1/3 of their total offense.

Pete Carroll head coached the Patriots years ago. I remember seeing the game at Tampa stadium. The Bucs beat them and held them to a few points.
