Report: Joseph Has Broken Kneecap

August 24th, 2012

Veteran WTSP-TV sportscaster Dave Wirth just reported on the 10 NEWS airwaves that Davin Joseph has a broken patella (kneecap) and will miss at least three months. Though Wirth says his source is not an official word from the Bucs.

Wirth was the sideline reporter for tonight’s Bucs-Pats game.

Joe is somewhat uplifted by this news, as an ACL tear would have been much more devastating.

If it is just the bone, and not damage to the stuff around the bone, it really isn’t that bad. Still takes a long time to heal though, because it is difficult to set back in place.

If I remember correctly, it is about 6 weeks for the bone to heal, but the recovery after that takes a bit longer because of how much they have to immobilize the leg for the bone to heal properly.

But this would have Joseph with a possible return after a stay on PUP. I guess it is time for Larsen to put his big boy pants on and find that fire he had in 2010.

i wonder how much his weight will play in the recovery. both trying to keep weight in control while healing, and the healing process of the knee taking longer to support his weight.

Generally patella fractures heal well on their own depending on the level of severity. Hopefully it is not as severe as some of the ones I’ve seen in which the patella had to be replaced completely.

He handled himself quite well although the pain is just beginning for him. Good man down.

A broken patella is a three month injury any way you slice it. That means anywhere from 8-12 games missed. On the bright side after it’s healed it’s good to go, unlike an MCL or ACL which could affect him the rest of his career. So there’s a bit of a silver lining here.

That’s a huge, huge loss. I’m thinking it’s Larsen but not sure, that right side of the line is a whole lot weaker now.

Last nights broadcast of the Redskins-Bucs game was a disgrace. Lynch and the other guy are NOT sportscasters. They only talked about the Bucs for the first part of the game. Then they talked to Ronde Barber for about 10-15 minutes with the camera on Ronde Barber NOT on the game. For half of the 3rd quarter and all of the 4th quarter they talked to the General Manager of the Bucs. You would never have known that a foot ball game was taking place. Has Lynch forgotten what he knew about football and therefore could not tell the public about the game or do they just not like the REdskins enough to talk about the game. I think this is typical of the Florida people. They only know the Bucs andno other team. Sad!!!! Hopefully they are gotten rid of.
