Your League Leader

September 27th, 2016

Fear not, Bucs fans, the earth did not implode Sunday night.

While the Bucs may have suffered a crotch-punch of a loss to the rotten Rams, there is hope. Yes, really!

Your NFL leader in touchdown passes after three weeks is none other than America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

Through three games, Jameis has thrown eight touchdowns and is tied with Drew Brees for the most in the NFL. Matty Ice, Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford each have seven.

So there is something to hang your hat on, Bucs fans. Jameis, despite so many fans grumbling because he is not perfect, is the trendsetter now for NFL signal-callers.

Only if we can get our defense to work.

  2. Pawel Says:

Also, looking at 2nd year QBs no one threw more than 20 TDs in a year except one guy. Winston also ranks top 5 in passing so the problem is defense, play calling or coach.

  3. Pickgrin Says:

Well its certainly not all unicorns and rainbows because Jameis also has 8 turnovers and the team is 1-2.

Its a good trend though. Would love to see Winston throw 35-40 TDs this year.

  4. jvato24 Says:

Winston is fine, the team is average at best, therein lies the problem

  5. Richey D Bucs Says:

Yeah, great! Jameis will get there, he keeps growing. We are second in the league in touch downs but only 16th in scored points, mainly because of missing field goals, an extra point and because of those, two 2 point conversions. An undrafted rookie scored a 57 yard kick for the Saints last night, by the way.

  6. Tampa Tony Says:

8 TD’s and 8 turnovers hopefully he keeps throwing TD’s but stops with giving the ball away. Opponents have turned those 8 turnovers into over 28 points. Ouch

  7. Mike Says:

Well the INTs would be more than halved if his receivers/RB’s would catch balls that hit them in the chest and/or hands instead of tipping them up.

  8. Trajan Says:

All y’all talking about TOs need to remember that a good majority of his aren’t even his fault lol Week 1, Jackson ran wrong route, coaches even said so. Week 2, 2 of the INTs could have been avoided had Sims caught one and Mike go for the other, then fumble was cause Sims knocked it out of his hand.. the other where on him though. Week 3, again Sims has ball hit his hands and it bounces out lol and the fumble, Smith just got beat by Quinn.

  9. tmaxcon Says:

it does not matter what jameis does until the loser mentality and piece of sh** former face of the franchise stop accepting losing.

  10. Tampa Tony Says:

Are those tipped passes on the receiver or #3 for a bad decision or bad placement of the ball? The sims tip was a poor decision by Jameis

  11. DemBoyzFromDaBay727 Says:

That’s all fine and dandy, but until the bucs can establish a run game for Winston this offense is in trouble. I don’t want Winston leading in all those categories because if u go and check the stats the bucs do not win alot of games when Jameis has to throw over 50 times. That usually means we’re down alot of points or the run game was not working and we had to abandon it. The less the attempts the better chance we have really. Check the numbers from last year, our 1st 2 wins came when Winston had under 20 attempts. This offense is built of play action and that’s where Winston’s thrives, when Dougy is tearing it up. so let’s hope our RB’s can step up there game and help take the pressure of #3 along with the O line.

  12. Buc1987 Says:

    Gunslinger.

You deal with the good and the bad in hopes there’s more good than bad.

There will be much more good than bad folks. Just hold on tight.

  13. Bug Says:

Stats are meaningless, Ws is what matters. Jameis isn’t 100% to blame for our current record, but he’s leaving points on the field and is giving away the ball at an alarming rate. I don’t care how many yards and TDs he throws for, just win the dang games.

  14. LakeLandBuc Says:

And Josh Freeman threw 6 Ints in 16 games during his second season. Jameis has thrown 6 INTS in 3 games with 13 games to play.

  15. LakeLandBuc Says:

It’s not all on the defense, 8 turnovers don’t help a defense. This is a team sport and everyone has to do their job, and Jameis need to quit turning the ball over. The Eagles are 3-0 with a rookie QB, because he don’t turn the ball over. He don’t need to throw 8 TD’s or throw for 1,000 yards, his job is to move the offense and don’t turn the ball over and the rest will fall in place.

  16. FLBoyInDallas Says:

The offense isn’t the problem with this team. We can all see that.

  17. LakeLandBuc Says:

We are -6 in the turnover dept, the Vikings are +8 and the Eagles are +6, and both are undefeated. It don’t take a genius to figure this out, you CANNOT turn the ball over and expect to win football games. You have to PROTECT the ball.

  18. Mojiska Says:

@ Tampa tony- my simple rule with that is always that if a receiver gets both hands on the ball he should catch it. It definately shouldn’t be a pick if it hits his hands, they are professionals, expected to take contact and not lose the ball. Just like James I is expected to hold on to the ball if he gets sacked.

  19. Bucsfanman Says:

It’s a team game FLBoy, EVERYONE’s to blame.
I have more confidence in the offense than the defense but you can’t put the defense in bad situations. Likewise, on 3rd and 17, someone, ANYONE needs to step up and make a play on defense.
There is no magic substitute for competency. Somebody needs to start making plays. End of story! I’m looking at you secondary!

  20. Bucamania Says:

Jameis is a gunslinger, no doubt. Imagine what he’d do if 83 tried out there.

  21. lurker Says:

lol @ “trendsetter”. the real “America’s Quarterback” laughs at this as he wait for his suspension to be over.

love me some jameis christ but he has major room to improve including his accuracy. that last play of his was not trendsetting. he also could have called a timeout on that last series, too.

  22. West Says:

I see Big Dog is trying to slam Winston today. I guess since Mariota is looking blah this year that means Stevie needs to go after Winston.

    Know-It-All whiffs again.

  23. Bucnut2 Says:

Yeah right! What a dumb post.
