Kyle Brindza, Gone

October 5th, 2015
Former Bucs kicker.

Former Bucs kicker.

Who didn’t see this coming down Central Ave?

The Bucs waved goodbye to a rookie kicker with worse aim than Mr. Magoo, Kyle Brindza.

Magoo was horrible. He was 2-for-7 in his last two games, including two extra-points missed! A high school kicker would be benched for that tripe.

Yet despite this, he has two of the five-longest Bucs field goals in franchise history.

I’m not happy of that decision, eve if I understand it.

I can’t be happy to see a rookie fired.

It’s a tough decision but it has to be taken. He could have be a hero last week in the game agaisnt texas and he could have kept us in the game yesterday.

I’m hoping that now we will have someone better which is not sure

Which is why he had to go. When the kicks were long kicks with no pressure of expectation to make them, he kicked freely. When he had sub-45 yarders where you’re expected to make them 99 times out of 100, he simply couldn’t handle the pressure. He probably would have been a disaster at game winning/tying FGs.

  4. feelthepewterpower Says:

he’ll land somewhere else and make the probowl lol

  5. DB55 Says:

    Ray

True story. I feel bad for the kid. he’s a rookie and our spc team coach is garbage.

  6. AlteredEgo Says:

no choice but to let him go….

  7. Buc1987 Says:

I still think he needs time to “develop.”

Ya see kickers just need time to be “developed.”

    SARCASM

That’s what we were being told by a few of you in here last week…that he can be developed….whatever that’s supposed to mean.

Buh bye Brindza although I really do wish they would have kept you as another nail in Lovie’s coffin.

How did this guy kick in practice and was anyone watching?

  8. Trubucfan22 Says:

The problem is that there are no good kickers available. Bring back barth? Im not against that idea. But he wasnt exactly lighting it up this preseason. There are 5 other teams looking for kicker this morning. Hope we find the right guy. Tbh anyone is better than what brindza showed. Idc i you can make it from 65 on a regular basis. If you cant make 30 yarders you are worthless.

  9. Bobby Says:

Bring back Murray. He was 20-24 last year. We just need someone reliable from short distance.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I agree with the decision….both to give him another chance and to cut him now……it was right to give him another chance because he has a strong leg and handles kickoffs very well….can also punt…..was a rookie/cheap & had potential.

Brindza screwed up his second chance…..too bad.

The only other option would be to keep 3 kickers….some teams do that……Brindza for very long field goals….someone with great accuracy like Barth inside the 40….and the punter.
Keeping 3 kickers is a luxury as is keeping 3 QBs….we have too many roster weaknesses & injuries to do both IMO.

  11. Clodhopper Says:

A week late but whatevs. Better to late than never.

Kickers are like Golfers and Baseball players. Once that doubt creeps in and you get into a rut, you have all kinds of time to think think and think some more. It’s hard to get out of a rut when you have all that time to think and overthink about it and drive your self crazy

  12. NJBucsFan Says:

@Bobby – he’s on IR and cannot return this season.

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

Sad man..Sad. I say sit Jamis Winston for a few games. He..lost that game with 5 turnovers and 4 of them converted into scores. Should be an interesting Losers bowl this Sunday. Bucs need to go…All out…if they are capable of it.

  14. tbbucs3 Says:

    Lovie/Lichts 3-17 moves
    – Cut Penn, zuttah and Larson, ruined o-line
    – Part ways with Revis without a decent replacement plan
    – Brindzilla for Tim Wright
    – Bring in another Ghost Johnson

  15. Yungry Says:

This guy was only part of the problem. Fire lovie and bring passion back to this team. The more moves, the better. Fire half these creeps and send a message that losing isn’t acceptable

  16. nate123455789 Says:

This team sucks hey let’s go lightning hockey season right around the corner everyone!

  17. This Guy Right Here Says:

So after 4 games, Licht sees a bad investment, and cuts bait…

After 20 games, the Glazers, need to cut bait with this HC/Head of Personnel Lovie!

Save the Season! Fire HC/Head of Personnel Lovie!!

  18. DraftJameis Says:

With Jay Feely’s recent comments it really wouldn’t shock me if some teams completely throw the extra point out of their arsenal from this point forward.

  19. SuckaneerBigFan Says:

NFL is not the place for “learning on the job”. Jameis better take note of that too. So tired of incompetence.

  20. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

He blew his chance. At least we have a head coach that isn’t afraid to move on.

  21. Buc1987 Says:

    Yes Bonzai…so true.

Can you put together a list of players Lovie has brought in only to have to “move on” from them?

If you start now. You might be done typing in a 1/2 hour or so.

  22. crazy Says:

Cutting your kicker without the new guy identified and signed is not a sound decision no matter how much you hate your kicker.

  23. passthebuc Says:

OK, he was playing bad. If that is the criteria for getting cut, half the O and D line and the QB should have gone with him. I know Joe, you can’t get rid of Americas QB even if it is giving America a bad name

  24. Idontwannahearitanymore Says:

America’s kicker. 2 out of 7 – simple as that!

  25. vegabuc Says:

    Good riddance

  26. 813bucboi Says:

    @vegabuc..exactly!!!!

  27. This Guy Right Here Says:

“Cutting your kicker without the new guy identified and signed is not a sound decision no matter how much you hate your kicker.”

Im getting a feeling this was a knee-jerk reaction to bring some heat off Lovie… If anything, theres always that chain smoking British dude in The Replacements they can call…

  28. Cobraboy Says:

    Should be no surprise.

Brindza was terrible at Notre Dame last year. He had the same exact problem as now: accuracy. He was like 58% on FG’s…with uprights over 5′ wider.

That leg is indeed powerful. But so is a 12ga., a weapon not considered by a surgical sniper…

  29. TheDudesAbide Says:

    Donald Igwebuike is available

  30. Bucsalltheway Says:

I wonder if lawerence tynes is still pissed with us

  31. BucTrooper Says:

    It’s a week too late….

Not only did it cost the Bucs ANOTHER GAME, it SEVERELY DAMAGED what’s left of Lovie’s credibility. Lovie traded a solid pass-catching TE, cut his incumbent & competition kicker, then received a 58% FGM rookie who performed WORSE, then STUCK HIS NECK OUT when he underperformed.

… all in the wake of an injury to his injury-prone pass-catching TE that he blew a 2nd round draft pick on.

The only thing missing is Lovie backing over a puppy in the parking lot en route to drop Bridza off at the airport.

  32. bucs55 Says:

Conner Barth he’s very accurate I don’t care if he doesn’t have the leg for kickoff

  33. crazy Says:

So which position has Lovie shored up by cutting or sitting the #1?

    DE? CB? S? T? G? LB? TE? QB? K? WR – maybe.

  34. FortMyersDave Says:

DB55: Yeah I agree with you: I feel for the kid but he actually got a week to redeem himself vs carolina after costing Tampa a possible W and he simply failed again; he had to go.. I personally felt he should have been released after the Houston fiasco just like the Steelers cut Scobee for also losing a winnable game vs a bad raven team.. Now I wonder who made the call to take him over Barth or Murray? Was it a financial decision sent to L&L by the beancounters who work for the baby nimrod Glazers? Was it L&L? Or was it that “garbage” ST coach O’Dea???? If it was O’Dea i would suggest to One buc Place that perhaps he should be jettisoned with the trash during the bye week! Heck if the Bucs lose to the Jags maybe Lovie should go with him!

  35. Caleb Says:

Man forget about the kicker, we all new this was going to happen, but did we bang Josh Freeman back for the last game… It sure looked like it. How many times are we gonna hear, oh imma work hard next from our QB’s.

  36. Caleb Says:

    Bring/bang
