“Multiple Super Bowls” For Mariota

April 13th, 2015

Mariota2Yeah, yeah, Joe’s heard the freakout — and the cheers — because Ron “Jaws” Jaworski, quarterbacks guru for BSPN, told Philadelphia media that he’s hearing from quality sources that Tampa Bay will draft Marcus Mariota with the No. 1 overall pick.

Joe doesn’t think Jaws is lying, but Joe also has looked into the eyes of Jason Licht, Lovie Smith and Joel Glazer recently, among others, and Joe’s only feeling Jameis Winston will be the Bucs’ pick.

Oh, the drama. It’s what makes Silly Season so entertaining.

Joe doesn’t doubt Mariota has backers at One Buc Palace. NFL Draft guru and league insider Daniel Jeremiah said so on NFL Network. It could be new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, who surely has some clout.

Only 17 days, people — 17 days.

In the CSN video below, Jaws talks about his film study of Mariota and the other stuff he’s hearing, that Chip Kelly is convinced Mariota will win” multiple Super Bowls.”

Multiple super bowls. Wow it makes you think the game was played individually and not a team sport.

  2. Jim Says:

I feel M&M is the best long-term QB but either one will be a 100% improvement over last years QB

  3. thegregwitul Says:

A rational Bucs fan’s modest requests this draft season:

    1. Draft a QB with the first overall selection.

    2. If you must trade down, go no further than the second overall pick, so you can be guaranteed one of the two top QBs.

    3. To be specific, please draft either Jamies Winston or Marcus Mariota in the first round.

I understand that all prospects have a chance to bust, but goodness this team needs to take advantage of having the first overall pick to select a game changer that can help turn the franchise around.

  4. thegregwitul Says:

Ok, to be even more specific, it’s Jameis Winston and not Jamies Winston.

  5. gotbbucs Says:

Is this the same Jaws that said Colin Kaepernik will be the best QB of all time?

Another ass bag from ESPN throwing sh!t against a wall in hopes that something sticks

  6. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Thank you for reminding them gotbucs. I wonder what makes Jaws an expert anyway,is simple because he played in the league?

  7. Patrick in VA Says:

These people are paid to be provocative. They’re paid to get people talking about their opinions. Let’s see one of them lose their job for going all in on a player that was a bust and I bet we have an entirely different kind of coverage and people are going to have much more accurate takes. Jaws can say whatever he wants to get people talking and, whether he’s right or wrong, he’ll be right back here talking about the same things next year at this time.

  8. the real Bucobruce Says:

I really hope this happens now my girlfriend and her little girl can go to the football games with me now i’ll buy season tickets now that we don’t have an alleged rapist on the team

  9. the real Bucobruce Says:

Jaws is only saying what he hears from NFL insiders about what the Bucs are going to do with the first overall pick.it’s not his opinion you dumb basters.

  10. Patrick in VA Says:

@Bucobruce – Did you keep your girlfriend and kid away from the stadium when Ray Lewis came to town? He was accused of a crime and the legal system said he was not guilty. Evidently, that doesn’t mean anything in Winston’s case. Some of you folks are just on a witch hunt and the legal process is just a nuisance that you’re not concerned with, unless they rule in a way that you’d like. People with access to a lot more information than you looked at all of the evidence, multiple times, and concluded that he was not guilty. Not sure why you feel you need to keep your family away from the stadium because of that.

  11. mac Says:

I had a dream last night… I was watching the Bucs… Mariota was running the offense and it looked awesome… I was filled with glee watching our offense drive the ball down the field with ease… Every time the defense would cover well Mariota would slip out of the pocket and pick up an easy ten yards before stepping out of bounds…

In my dream we were unstoppable…

I will be fine with either Winston or Mariota as the choice… They are two very different players but they both have the goods…

  12. Buc1987 Says:

I’ll repost this in here seeing how he’ll be in this thread at any minute spouting off how meaningful what Jaws said is.

Erik the Genuis….cites Jaworski as the r4eason we’re in denial.

Yet when I cited numerous talking heads saying we’re taking Winston, all that was meaningless to the genius..

    Do you remember that Erik?

    “Mocks mean nothing”

    “Analysts don’t really know”

I guess the same doesn’t apply to the great Ron Jaworski does it?

Would you like me to post 40-50 other people on the same level as Jaworski that are saying the pick is Winston?

    SMH Erik….get a grip.

  13. TheShaz Says:

What is Jaws going to say?

“Still looks like the Bucs are taking Jameis with the 1st pick, its the logical selection. Now lets cover the 3rd annual Turtle Tossing Jamboree, have we got exciting video for you!!”

They have to gin up controversy, they have to generate hits to their web sites. If there is no news……….they have no problem “reporting” something stupid and with no vetting, just to generate news.

  14. Jeagan1999 Says:

I hope he does win multiple Super Bowls! With or without the Bucs! He seems to be a very intelligent, hardworking, humble and thoughtful young man. On the field he is insanely athletic, accurate, strong armed and “as cool as the other side of the pillow”, if I can borrow the phrase from the late, great, Stuart Scott. I will root for Mariota to succeed whether he becomes a Buc or no.

  15. Keepitreal Says:

All for ratings… Winston’s the pick!

  16. Tiny Tim Says:

Jaws also said that Jay Cutler was going to be great. In any case, on another buccaneer site, the author there says his sources from inside one buc says Winston is the pick. Who has the best sources, Jaws or the author who has been covering the bucs for about 20 years?

  17. Waterboy Says:

We’ll see how much Chip really believes that based on how much he’d be willing to give up on draft day to move up and get him.

  18. MarshallU Says:

I agree that Mariota will win championships. Hopefully the Bucs are smart enough to see it. I’ll take “Super Mario” over “Captain Crablegs” any day

  19. David Says:

@the real Buco Bruce You are exactly right. Jaws isn’t stating opinion or predicting, he’s telling you what his”Quality” inside sources are saying the Bucs are going to do with the first pick period!
    MARIOTA!

  20. Architek Says:

As Chris Landry stated “Mayock and others alike are not watching scout film and not breaking them down from a scouting trained eye – so they’re just talking.”

There you have it – nothing from analysts will sway the Bucs either way!

    Falling on deaf ears.

  21. Wausa Says:

You mean the same Ron Jaworski that said this about Jimmy Clausen:

Jaworski noted Clausen’s leadership ability in the huddle, calling him a team’s “LeBron James.” Clausen comes with a toughness demonstrated while he played with a toe injury. He brought the Irish back with multiple fourth-quarter drives.

At least by this information, Clausen looks like the best pick in the draft. Jaworski summed up his assessment best by simply stating, there’s “very little not to like about Jimmy Clausen.”

  22. Architek Says:

Jaws is no different at this junction as any of us with an opinion and no one inside Bucs are gonna reveal who they’re taking

  23. rayjay1122 Says:

After watching Gruden with Mariota and Winston, I felt like Winston really appeared light years ahead of Mariota. That does not mean Mariota will be a bust. I just think he has further to go to learn the NFL style offense. Also, for as much work as Winston has to do to grow up, Mariota has to learn to be a vocal leader and to be more fiery.

  24. IK Says:

Winston was awesome with Gruden. He has incredible charisma. He will be our guy.

  25. cmurda Says:

The #1 pick is always a much anticipated pick. The NFL has every reason to motivate people to tune in. The Bucs aren’t going to show their cards until April 30. I still believe Winston is our guy and if the Glazers force the hand for Mariota I hope for the best. I remain convinced that Winston is the right pick and if Community Relations are the reason for picking Mariota then its time for the Glazers to sell this team. For years we have drafted guys with C’s on their jersey in college and every one of them has sucked. Winston is maturing and it is to be expected. The man has the IQ and the ability that no other possess. Draft Winston. That is all.

  26. jimmy53 Says:

    Buccobruce:

There are people falsely accused of rape all the time, are you saying they’re bad people and you’d keep kids away from them? Is it their fault someone is looking for a quick buck?

    AP beats his kid.
Ray Lewis was complicit in a murder.
    Ray Rice beat his wife.

Would you have stayed home if they came to town? Now, Winston did none of this, and has been cleared of wrongdoing 4 different times…once by an unbiased former Supreme Court justice.—but he’ll drive you to stay home??

Y’know I can’t decide if some of you are morons or just a-holes.

Whether Winston comes or not just STAY HOME.

  27. Barry Bryan Joel all agree Says:

Why are you Winstonite s scared? Joe and most of the local media are and have been driving the Winston train. Winston’s a lock, so stop being so nervous. Do you really think this organization will pick the right QB #Mariota

The worst NFL franchise will pick the absolute worst choice #Winston

So sleep well nervous children, there’s no boogeyman. Is there?

    #DP #HGH #PEDs #MushBrainRetard

  28. Lord Cornelius Says:

lmao did anyone realize when he was talking about Chip Kelly moving up to get Mariota he was talking about moving into the top 2/3/4 picks?

    He literally says:

“…somehow make the deal spicy enough to move up into that… 2 or 3 or 4”

He doesn’t even suggest #1. So how can he think the Bucs are going to take him but say that the Eagles don’t even need to move up to the #1 pick???

    Unless this video is old?

Seriously? He can’t even be consistent with his own new rumor. I just want this freaking draft to come already

  29. Erik the WiseMMan Says:

I agree that these guys are paid to be provocative; but is it wise to risk damaging your credibility just to get some extra atrention. I’d think not. The smartest long-term move would be to report what you believe is the most accurate information.

  30. Erik the WiseMMan Says:

Typo….. Anyway, I do have a bit of a newfound fondness of Winston after watching him on Gruden’s QB camp…. He’s a likeable dude. And man I love how Gruden doesn’t hold back at all. You can tell he still has the Bucs’ best interest at heart… I still like Mariota’s skillset and athleticism better, but I’ll be happy either way.

  31. RealkillersmoveinSilence Says:

Why does you post the most unenthusiastic photo of Mariota

  32. gotbbucs Says:

    @ realkillers

I don’t know that there is a picture of an enthusiastic Marcus Mariota.

  33. JBuc Says:

How many NCAA championships did he win with an offense built directly to display his talents?
