Looking To Carolina

August 30th, 2014

Currently, Bucs fans are fixated on the look of the final 53-man roster. The deadline is 4 p.m. today and fans are all worked up about what moves Bucs general manager Jason Licht may make.

(And, no, Joe doesn’t give a whip who will be on the Bucs’ 10-man practice squad. Yes, Joe knows there is a practice squad cult out there, for reasons Joe cannot quite comprehend. Only a sorry team led by Raheem Morris sweats over who will be on the practice squad.)

In this TBO.com video, Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune has an exhaustive discussion of what fans can expect from the 2014 Bucs when the season kicks off a week from tomorrow. Think about that, folks. We are almost there.

The whole franchise is licking their collectie chops at busting the Bucs…”OL”….not since Chris Simms has desert been served before dinner..

  2. The_Buc_Realist Says:

8 days till opening day for the Bucs! my favorite is that this is everyone’s prediction week!

  3. dabucs Says:

20-10 bucs baby..see u at ray jay fellas

  4. bigpoppabuc Says:

I love the fact that we’re playing Carolina week 1. If our defense comes out and out performs theirs, it’ll really send a message to the division and set the tone for the season. The offense will be a work in progress all season I expect. But I still think they’re capable of some big plays and above average games.

  5. Brandon Says:

It’s called loving every part of football. I, for one, do care about the practice squad, and so do most of the truly passionate fans that thirst for knowledge. Many football fans are sports fans in general. But many other football fans are fans of only football. We eat, sleep, and breathe football. There is no baseball, basketball, or hockey to distract us from the one thing that is truly important-FOOTBALL!

So…don’t post the practice squad, that’s cool, the passionate fans will find out on their own.

  6. Architek Says:

Expecting big things from my Bucs this year!

  7. RastaMon Says:

Brandon…the PS will not be announced for another day or two….feel for ya bro

  8. Buccfan37 Says:

Nothing could be finer than to beat down Carolina in the Bucs home opener.

  9. Pawel Says:

Can we get a insight report on the Panthers? How are they looking or what they are saying about the bucs.

  10. Mr. Mudge Says:

The practice squad cult, as Joe condescendingly puts it, is composed of people who are interested in developing young players. Most of them will never impact a roster, but sometimes they become contributors. It’s interesting. I enjoy seeing how teams are built, even on the fringes. More interesting than hearing all the clamoring over the Bucs signing Inclogzero.

  11. WalkdaPlank Says:

If Schiano can beat down the Kitties in his first game so can Lovie. But the biggest concerns are if Trafford will be there and if Scam Newton is playing.

  12. Ed Kerber Says:

    Major Wright was just wronged

  13. BUC4LIFE79 Says:

“Only a sorry team led by Raheem Morris sweats over who will be on the practice squad.” LMAO…thanks Joe’s, best one liner of the day so far.

  14. Mitch Says:

Damn they let Major Wright go!

  15. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Told ya they’d only keep 4 safeties and that the backups would be Tandy and McDougald. This allows them to keep 6 LB’s and possibly 9 D-linemen, depending on how many CB’s they keep.

  16. Matt Says:

We just released Solomon Patton…who the hell is going to return kicks now?!

  17. Macabee Says:

    FLBOYInDallas,

Nailed it didn’t I? Missed 2 – Barth and English.

  18. buc4lyfe Says:

Didn’t Donald penn come from a practice squad? Your media so yea ok you don’t care but no organization is doing themselves a favor by employing players not worth the time and money. Having garbage on the practice squad is just as wasteful as having garbage active on gameday

  19. Macabee Says:

    Just let Solomon Patton go!

  20. FLBoyInDallas Says:

We don’t have a KR/PR now with the release of Patton. It’s obvious they have someone else already on the way here even though no one’s reported it yet. I’m guessing maybe Damaris Johnson, that WR the Eagles were trying to trade before they cut him.

  21. Mr. Mudge Says:

Hopefully Patton returns on the practice squad.

  22. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Macabee…yeah, pretty good call so far

  23. bob Says:

They must have players from other teams coming in to take their place. This coaching staff does things in a big way…..never a dull moment!

  24. Martinii Says:

If they have to hold a roster spot for Sims until Tuesday, maybe they hope Patton will not get picked up in the next few days. I agree who is going to return kicks?

  25. BucBob1 Says:

Charles Sims has to stay on the active roster until Tuesday. My guess is they will resign Solomon Patton after Charles Sims goes on IR.

  26. Touch_Down_Tampa_Bay Says:

    Rainey????

  27. StAugBuc Says:

    Rick Stroud ‏@NFLSTROUD

#Bucs plan to wait to release their list of cuts until 7 p.m.

ILB Yawin Smallwood released… Wouldn’t mind giving him a look

  29. ManzielMadness Says:

And Champ Bailey, maybe worth a look at the slot?

  30. ManzielMadness Says:

Lol I meant as a nickel corner..

  31. Ed Kerber Says:

    ROBERT MEACHUM (SP) AVAILABLE
    Good for a #3

  32. Jeagan1999 Says:

Wonder if the O-line is set now or if there will be a new face or two by next weekend? Excited about this season. If we can protect our QB’s and open a few holes for Martin, we’ve got a shot to battle for a playoff spot! Go Bucs!

  33. Mathius Says:

I guess we are signing wide receiver/kick returner Chris Williams who was cut by the bears 4.28 40

  34. chickster Says:

were so glad joe doesn’t give a whip wow what a football mind you are

  35. BoJim Says:

    Practice squad? You mean prey?

  36. Buccfan37 Says:

Like Pawel up the page, I’ll be waiting for the Around The NFC South column to fill me in on the division happenings.

  37. Legarrettes Blunt Says:

Dude, your critique is not appreciated, especially with the day hardly over. –Joe

  38. Legarrettes Blunt Says:

Just trying to add some fuel to the fire that’s all Joe. You critique everyone so much that I thought you could handle some criticism. All in good fun I read your website every day Joe!

  39. Java Says:

With Cam banged up and very little weapons around him I like the bucs opening week chances. Looking forward to 8 or more wins this season.
