Joe Talks All Things Bucs Minicamp & QBs

April 23rd, 2014

It was that time again today. Fresh from the practice fields of One Buc Palace, Joe sat down with the dean of Tampa Bay sports radio, Steve Duemig of WDAE-AM 620, to dive into the gripping Bucs subjects of the day.

Enjoy!

He was talking about Marc Trestman’s Bears.

Everyone should listen to this. An especially informative show. Great job, Joes!

On Demps, I really agree with you. Unless he is commiting full time to football and improving his catching skills, he won’t make the team. Even a kick returner has to catch.

Here’s an “out there” thought…try him at CB. No one would be able to out run him. Just an impulsive thought. If he can’t catch, maybe he can cover.

I still think they keep 3 QBs this year. I know what Lovie said, but with McCown they’ll need to. He’s 34. He’s never played a full season as a starter. His body may not hold up to the rigers of starting, especially with an offensive line allowing him to get hit nearly every play..

Bucs will need a solid backup, and one to back him up as well.

Kafka might be qualified for practice squad, but he certainly would not be a good #2 if McCown goes down and a new starter is named. I believe he was brought in speciccally as a minicamp are during this minicamp.

Interesting about how the Bucs are letting the media see more on the condition that system and gameplan stuff isn’t reported.

Although I think revealing that QB drill might have given some things away.

  4. BFFL Says:

Being a great QB is all about reading defenses, having great technique and not throwing interceptions. Glennon showed the ability to excel in all these areas as a rookie with no weapons, no OL, no coach and playing against the best defenses in the league. This is why the experts believe in the guy and why the MGM exists.

Glennon now has a great veteran mentor in McCown and not that joke Freeman. This is why McCown is here. Not because they don’t believe in Glennon. If they didn’t like Glennon, then they would have traded him by now instead of wasting their energies on developing him.

    BFFL…you are correct sir.

McCown, Glennon, and Kafka 2014 training camp.

    MGK Mob!

  6. Buc1987 Says:

Bonzai …I’m going to give it a go. If I hear any snide comments out of lil puppy it’s going off.

  7. Bucky1 Says:

JOE can you please explain the hate for Glennon expressed on the tape. I heard you say you don’t hate him but ridicule, snide laughing etc says a different story. Steve D(dog) is very open about his disgust with the guy. When will the anger subside about Freeman being replaced? I am not a member of any mob but I am ready for all to get behind our players and support our team. If you are a buc fan you ought to support any one Lovey has on the roster. That’s what team is all about.

    Bucky:

Joe honestly does not hate Mike Glennon. He’s a nice guy. Joe just did not see anything, or scant signs, that Glennon can lead the Bucs to the playoffs, much less Super Bowl. And when your quarterback leads your offense to the worst rank in the NFL, that simply doesn’t cut it for Joe.

Look, the Raiders had a Godawful offense, but not worse than the Bucs, and they just unloaded their starting quarterback responsible for their putrid offense. Yet the Bucs, with a worse offense, should have stayed the course?

It will be a long time before Joe gets over how Rip Van Freeman Pearl Harbored the Bucs last season. One of the reasons the Bucs are in the dumpster they are is because of Freeman.

  9. Bruce Says:

Freeman’s fault but yet you blame it all on Glennon. No supporting cast but yet you blame it all on Glennon. Because your buttboy Freeman got benched youn blame it all on Glennon. The receivers drop balls and you blame it on Glennon. The offensive line can’t block and the QB is constantly under pressure but you blame it all on Glennon. I suppose once we finally trade him and we still have a losing season you probably blame it all on Glennon.

This is obnoxious, you say, “I don’t hate Glennon” but it’s apparent you think he sucks, and are doing your best to destroy him in the court of public opinion. F@#k, you have him traded before the Bucs even had their draft. That’s some hateful sh|t. What if L & L don’t trade him? Then what? How do you repair your relationship after you crushed him locally, and championed his departure during the entire off season?

What if they don’t draft a QB and go into the season with Glennon as the backup and McCown gets hurt and Glennon takes them to the playoffs? You’d look pretty stupid then. I for one will never let you live it down and I think that’s what you and Duemeg and the rest of the hateful Glennon detractors are afraid of. That he might actually prove you turkey’s wrong. That’s why if you can get him ousted it would CYOA.

  10. Oingo Boingo Says:

Joe, a football maven you’re not. It’s nice that you can scrape out a living with this blog but your opinion about Glennon couldn’t be further from the truth. ... Of course, Joe is not going to publish the rest, aka your barrage of insults. Please tell Joe what the demand is for Glennon around the NFL, what the Bucs could command in a trade? There’s your value of Glennon, and it’s not high. Lovie Smith and the rest of the NFL do not consider him starting material. Don’t blame Joe for the Bucs’ QB situation. –Joe
