Greg Schiano updates Gerald McCoy’s injury

It looks like the Bucs dodged a bullet and Gerald McCoy was not seriously injured when he left the game with a hurt knee during the Bucs’ first defensive series.

Speaking after the game on the Buccaneers Radio Network, Greg Schiano said McCoy just needs some time off to get back on the field.

“I think Gerald’s going to be OK. I think he just needs a little rest,” Schiano said.

Like McCoy or not, this is damn good news.

Yeah, he was jumping and jogging on the sideline after the injury. Didn’t look too serious.

What is with all our injuries lately, and last year ? I mean we play on grass, not turf. It is almost like Tampa is cursed, or something ?
The loss of Davin Joseph is going to be HUGE, if we do not find a Guard somewhere to replace him. It is a GD Shame really. Tampa would have had arguably THE best O Line in the NFL this year. It is time for our Scouts to get really busy, and watch teams with excessive O Line depth for a promising Guard.
It will not be easy to replace a pro bowl guard like Joseph, but hopefully we find another Don Penn to ease the pain ?

Actually, with McCoy and Clayborn being OK I wouldn’t call us cursed. It sucks to lose Joseph. We can’t really replace a pro bowl guard but it’s football and it’s a tough sport. We’re not the only team to lose key players in the pre-season. Larsen is just going to have to step up his game. It really is “next man up” because injuries are just part of the game.

  4. Stanglassman Says:

They are saying Joseph has a broken knee cup. 6-8 weeks

  5. Chris Says:

Where is all this injury info

  6. MadMax Says:

    ^^ Ouch

Well, McCoy will hopefully be ok going forward and i agree with them pulling him for the rest of the game. But EJ Wilson looked good, and our guys did one helluva job tonight considering who they were playing and all of the injuries. I was wearing my Bucs jersey proud tonight!

  7. MadMax Says:

Btw, that was a pretty dirty hit by canon on McCoy….damn rookie!

  8. BucfanBF Says:

    @madmax
Yes it was. Patriots ánd broncos seem to do that a lot.

  9. Have A Nice Day Says:

That training is certainly showing, however. McCoy is moving bodies with ease. He looks so much bigger than his rookie year.

Gotta keep the GMC Envoy healthy.

Glad he was running on sidelines. I’d bench him til Carolina in week 1.

Great game tonight. Hope Clay’s ok lol. Hope DJ has a speedy recovery.

  11. Orlandobucsfan Says:

Yeah I agree with you guys Honestly I don’t think many starters should be playing next week, offense and defense.

  12. Canadabuc Says:

Glass freakin McCoy. That’s the second time he has rolled around like a wounded duck this year. The loss of Joseph is devastating to an offensive line that played great last night. Vincent Jackson also looks like a serious weapon for us.

  13. Bobby Says:

    Canada….that’s enough of that ehhh????

I could have sworn I saw McCoy come back in last night? I might be wrong though.
