Warren Sapp’s Name Sparks Pasco County Assault

January 18th, 2012

It seemed Christopher Ellis of Land O’ Lakes in enchanted Pasco County was just like every other red-blooded American male last weekend who wanted nothing more than to swill copious amounts of adult beverages and watch playoff football.

Trust Joe, he can relate.

But the introduction of the name of former Bucs star and fan-hostile Warren Sapp into what otherwise was a pleasant evening for Ellis triggered an outburst that led to an alleged choking incident and spousal assault.

Joe will let the Tampa Bay Times take it from here.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Ellis, 49, followed her into the kitchen of their Lake Padgett Estates East home and grabbed her by the throat. He shoved the 37-year-old woman into their bedroom, pinned her on the bed, squeezed her throat, threatened to “punch her teeth out” and slapped her on the side of her head, a report states.

She freed herself and called 911. Ellis was arrested and charged with battery by strangulation. He was released Sunday from the Pasco County jail on $1,000 bail.

Joe’s going to take a wild stab and guess Ellis was wearing a Tim Tebow jersey at the time of the battery.

Ah, football and booze and the NFL Network. There’s a reason Joe calls it “The Man’s Channel.”

This article really made no sense to me until I clicked through to the Times’ link and read the first (and only) paragraph omitted from the JBF article. Apparently she said Sapp “seemed nice.” HAHA!!

Was I the only one at least initially confused after reading this article?

Only thing confusing is why you’d be confused

Joe needs to stay focused. If Joe was focused Joe would not have posted this.

Prolly wanted an autograph from Warren years ago and didn’t get it. Years of rage built up from being dissed by the big man. Now his wife makes a comment about Warren being nice and he goes off on her. My question is,” Who’s the asshole now”?

  8. Fear The Glow Says:

Word on the street is that Mark Dominik met with Sapp to casually discuss the current Bucs coaching search and a similar incident happened when Mark told Sapp that he thought Mike Sherman “seemed nice.”

Had no clue what was going on here until i read these posts, and I saw Kiper having us take Richardson also over Claiborne, that would be absurd. Yea Trent is a beast, but so is Claiborne, I think a potential shut down corner is better than a great back, especially with a draft so deep at RB and having a bruiser already here in Blount. We take Richardson over Claiborne or Blackmon, man will I be F#CKING pissed, however if those two are gone I got no problem with it.
