Buccaneers Madness: Hardy Nickerson Region

March 17th, 2010

And so ends the first round of the Buccaneers Madness tournament, largely influenced by Joe’s good friend, Jason McIntyre, the father of TheBigLead.com and his Pop Culture tournament.

Later this week Joe will have the second round matchups.

I can’t believe one of the votes. You pick a long FG in a regular season game over a game that put the Bucs in the playoffs for the first time?? If they would have lost that game, they would not have been in the playoffs. It is as simple as that. We would have then missed our first playoff win and seeing Ricky Bell run all over the Eagles. Sure it was fun mocking the obnoxious Eagles fans after the long FG by Bryant. But nothing should beat getting to the playoffs for the first time. And the ’79 team really brought the TB area together and it was just an enjoyable experience. Simpler times back then. No internet, cell phones and ESPN was just getting started. I miss those days.

Oddly enough, like the NCAA, Joe may have seeded a team/event lower than it should have been.

However, as Joe is typing this reply Wednesday morning, Matt Bryant’s field goal is winning with 67 percent of the electorate.

The field goal, remember, is a team record.

I still don’t have to like it Joe. But as I said it was very enjoyable giving it to the Eagles fans as you walked out the stadium. They were pretty bad throughout the game.
