“Pay Invoice” Is Front And CenterFebruary 16th, 2010
In what is probably a sign of the times, the Bucs have published two prominent colorful graphics on the official team Web site that direct fans to “Pay Invoice.”
Not exactly a subtle message. And hardly the best PR move for a team whose management claims to have no money concerns, although its fans believe otherwise.
The most prominent “Pay Invoice” graphic rotates with others and features the image of Barrett Ruud (perhaps it should read, “Shed a Block”). The other “Pay Invoice” graphic shows Kellen Winslow, Jr. making a one-hand catch.
Clicking on these graphics takes readers to a page where they can manage their Bucs ticket account.
Joe checked the Web sites of several other NFL teams, including ticket-sales challenged Jacksonville, Cincinnati and Detroit, and no other teams were marketing with a “Pay Invoice” banner, or anything that resembled a hand-over-your-money message.
It seems to be a Bucs innovation.
Via Joe’s research, it was obvious the Bucs have one of the best, if not the best, team Web site in the league. However, “Pay Invoice” clearly gets an award for most offensive marketing copy in the NFL.
