So Tristan Wirfs became the NFL’s highest paid offensive lineman today and held a news conference with Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht after practice to talk about it.

[UPDATE: 12:23 p.m.] Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, X-rays on YaYa Diaby’s injured ankle are negative. That’s the good news. The bad news? The MRI results may not be known until late tonight or early tomorrow.
YaYa Diaby, the Bucs’ 2023 sacks leader, went down for about three minutes and was carted off the field with an ankle injury very late in practice this morning. The injury occurred during a full-contact play.
Diaby did get into the cart without assistance. Joe will update as more information becomes available.
This nugget is extra interesting to Joe because it comes from a national media guy actually at Bucs practice today. [read more]

And the kick-in-the-gut news of YaYa Diaby going down with what looked liked a significant ankle injury came late this morning.

The long Tampa Bay nightmare for so many Bucs fans is over. Tristan Wirfs and the Bucs have a deal in place.
Per BSPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bucs’ starting left tackle Wirfs and the Bucs came to an agreement: five years, $140 million. Not bad for Mr. Wirfs and his young family.
Jordan Schultz also twittered out the news at the same time Schefter did.
That will buy you a few Maid-Rites.
Rest easy, Bucs fans. Wirfs will be around for a few years.
